| Abstract: | Two palladium (II) complexes with the ligand p-ClC6H4-HIEAI p-ClC6H4-HIEAI = isonitrosoethylacetoac-etate-N-(p-chlorobenzyl)imine], PdCl(p-ClC6H4-IEAI) (p-ClC6H4NH2) (1) and Pd(p-ClC6H4-IEAI)2 (2), were prepared and characterized by IR and electronic spectroscopy. The crystal structure of 1 has been determined. The geometry around the palladium atom in 1 is a distorted square plane, the Schiff base ligand p-ClC6H4-IEAI- being coordinated to Pd atom through its oximo-nitrogen atoms and imino-nitrogen atoms.
