Abstract:
70Ph2SiO·30TiO2 coatings on slide glass and phosphate glass substrates have been prepared by the sol-gel process. Experimental results on the characterization and chemical durability of the coatings are presented. It is shown that the coatings heated at 150°C have reasonably good acid and water resistance while their alkali durability is very poor. The XPS results are used to verify the different corrosion behaviors of the coating in pure water and 1N HC1 solutions. The chemical durability of phosphate glass can be significantly improved by this coating.
