Abstract: | In this paper, we give a systematic exposition of our approach to the Young measure theory. This approach is based on characterzation of these objects as measurable functions into a compact metric space with a metric of integral form. We explain advantages of this approach in the study of the behavior of integral functionals on weakly convergent sequences.
