Abstract: | The kinetics of the aquation of [Co(en)2(tu)Cl]2+ (en = ethylenediamine, tu = thiourea) and some analogous substituted thiourea complexes have been studied at 25°C in 5 × 10−3 M nitric acid. The reactions are all first order in complex with rate constands varying from 2·0 × 10−5 to 3·2 × 10−5 sec−1. Analysis of these spectra indicate little or no trans products. There was no evidence for a trans intermediate. |
