Abstract: | It is shown that the equations of motion of a particle in a circular accelerator with general azimuthally periodic guiding magnetic field are substantially simplified if a large number of field periods is assumed. The simplified equations permit a clear picture of the influence of the magnetic field parameters on the dynamics of the accelerated particle to be obtained easily. |
