| Abstract: | CNDO/S calculations demonstrate that changes in the Tn ← T1 absorption spectrum of 1,1′-binaphthyl in going from rigid to fluid media is consistent with a rotation of the chromophores about the interconnecting bond to a nearly planar trans configuration. |
