Abstract: | In this paper, we present a study of fluorescence quenching of pyrene by DABCO in cyclohexane solutions. The absorption spectra of pyrene singlet state 1S-nS have been measured in the presence and in the absence of DABCO; the spectra are practically identical. The de-excitation of singlet pyrene by DABCO seems to be a non-reversible process leading to the triplet state, the probability of formation of this triplet state being near unity in the quenching process. |
