| Abstract: | The reactions of aroylacetonitriles with the nickel chelate of ethyl acetoacetate afforded new block heterocyclic reagents, viz., 3-acetyl-4-amino-6-arylpyran-2-ones. The reactions of the latter with diethyl oxalate gave rise to ethyl 7-aryl-4,5(1H,5H)-dioxopyrano4,3-b]pyridine-2-carboxylates. |
