Abstract:Self-oscillations have been successfully achieved in the thermoacoustic resonant tube system in this report. The thermoacoustic resonant tube charged with nitrogenstarts self excited oscillation at the temperature difference of 310 K imposed on the thermoacoustic regenerator. The amplitude of sound pressure reaches 1.5% of the meanpressure (5 bar) at 430 K, the intrinsic frequency is 105.9 Hz, and the sound power iscorrespondingly 21 W. The attenuation coefficient of the impulse response and the meandamping coefficient of the system at various temperature difference below the onset ofoscillation are measured. Further studies are focused on the dependence of sound powerand intrinsic frequency of the system on the temperature difference; the onset temperature difference of the system with differeat charging pressure is also studied. Comparisonbetween the theoretical results and the experimental results are given.
