Abstract: | A set X of boundary points of a (possibly unbounded) convex body K Ed illuminating K from within is called primitive if no proper subset of X still illuminates K from within. We prove that for such a primitive set X of an unbounded, convex set K Ed (distinct from a cone) one has X![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) =2 if d=2, ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) X![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) 6 if d=3, and that there is no upper bound for X![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) ![mid](/content/p75300h605041x55/xxlarge8739.gif) if d 4. |
