Abstract:
The optical absorption spectrum of the transitions has been observed in a flow tube by detection of the Ar+ product of the charge exchange reaction N2+ + Ar → N2 + Ar+. This reaction is fast for N2+(A) Icvels, but very slow or zero for N2+(X). The techinique is sensitive and applicable to the spectroscopic and reactive study of many ions.
