Na4AuTl,die erste ternäre Verbindung im System Natrium/Gold/Thallium

Na₄AuTl, the First Ternary Compound in the System Sodium/Gold/Thallium Silver coloured, brittle single crystals of Na₄AuTl were obtained by the reaction of NaN₃, gold sponge and TlN₃ at 773 K. The structure was determined from X-ray single-crystal diffractometry data: Na₄AuTl crystallizes in a new structure type with separated gold and thallium partial structures. These consist of linear [Au_2/2] chains and [Tl₂] dumb-bells. Structural relationships between Na₂Au and the Na Au partial structure of Na₄AuTl are discussed.
