Synthesis and Structure of 1,3‐Diisopropyl‐4,5‐dimethylimidazolium‐2‐sulfonate: A Carbene Adduct of Sulfur Trioxide [1] The stable betaine 1,3‐diisopropyl‐4,5‐dimethylimidazolium‐2‐sulfonate ( 5 ) is obtained through hydrolysis of the 2‐chloro‐1,3‐diisopropyl‐4,5‐dimethylimidazolium chloro‐ sulfite salt ( 4 b ) in the presence of cyanide. The crystal structure analysis of 5 is reported.
