Scattering of a Bounded Electron Beam by Plasma Waves which are Self-Consistently Excited by the Beam

The nonlinear stage of the beam plasma instability of a bandlike electron beam in unbounded plasma is examined. It is shown that such an interaction is responsible for the extreme beam electron scattering that can be observed in experiments in the absence of an external magnetic field.
