Abstract:We study the effect of quark masses on the energy density of two ferro-magnetic vacua in QCD, corresponding to different vacuum symmetries. In the massless limit the two states have the same energy, while as the quark masses are turned on the state with more symmetry elements becomes the “true” vacuum. The dominant contribution to the energy density splitting is proportional tom 2 lnm 2
