Abstract:
A lot of efforts have been dedicated to improve the external quantum efficiency of LED chips for many years.Finite difference time domain(FDTD) is widely used for this problem.FDTD is efficient for laser diode analysis due to its wave guide analysis method.However,in LEDs.multi-modes are emitted from active layer and can’t be treated by FDTD. In this paper,finite elemental method(FEM) is applied to simulate the propagation of LED.Noted that point spherical wave is applied and coherence of light source is also considered.The model is finally simplified for convenience of calculation.An experiment of LED based on photon crystal(PHC) structure is simulated to verify the model.
