QCD corrections to order α s in the soft-gluon approximation to angular distributions of decay charged leptons in the process e + e t , followed by semileptonic decay of t , are obtained in the esu− e centre-of-mass frame. As compared to distributions in the top rest frame, these have the advantage that they would allow direct comparison with experiment without the need to reconstruct the top rest frame. The results also do not depend on the choice of a spin quantization axis for t or t. Analytic expression for the triple distribution in the polar angle of t and polar and azimuthal angles of the lepton is obtained. Analytic expression is also derived for the distribution in the charged-lepton polar angle. Numerical values are discussed for √s=400, 800 and 1500 GeV.  相似文献

We point out that the equivalent-photon approximation (EPA) for processes with massive spin-1 particles in the final state would have validity in a more restricted kinematic domain than for processes where it is commonly applied, viz., those with spin-1/2 or spin-0 particles in the final state. We obtain the criterion for the validity ofEPA for the two-photon production of a pair of charged, massive, point-like spin-1 particlesV ±, each of massM and with a standard magnetic moment (κ=1). In a process in which one of the photons is real and the other virtual with four-momentumq, the condition for the validity ofEPA is |q 2|≪M 2, in addition to the usual condition |q 2|≪W 2,W being theV + V invariant mass. In a process in which both photons are virtual (with four-momentaq andq′), our condition is |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8, in addition to |q 2| ≪M 2, |q2| ≪M 2 and |q 2| ≪W 2, |q2| ≪W 2. Even when these extra conditions permitting the use ofEPA are not fulfilled, convenient approximate expressions may still be obtained assuming merely |q 2| ≪W 2 and |q2| ≪W 2. We also discuss how the extra conditions are altered when the vector bosons are incorporated in a spontaneously broken gauge theory. Examples ofW boson production in Weinberg-Salam model are considered for which the condition |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8 is shown to be removed.  相似文献

本文描述寻找顶夸克的漫长过程。从70年代末开始,美国的PEP,德国的PETRA,80年代日本的TRISTAN,欧洲核子中心CERN的SP PS质子反质子对撞机,90年代的CERN的LEP大型电子正电子对撞机,最后于1997年才由美国费米国家实验室的D0和CDF国际合作组找到了顶夸克存在的证据,并给出了顶夸克的质量为:174.3±3.2±4.0GeV。人们可以从这段历史获得有益的启示。  相似文献

目前,正负电子湮灭过程的核子激发态N*产生的实验数据主要来自于粲偶素能区。粲偶素衰变到核子激发态过程类似于其类时电磁形状因子测量过程,正反粲夸克短程湮灭提供了近乎于点源的胶子强子化过程。与γN,eN,πN反应互补,这一新的N*产生源具有同位旋和低自旋筛选的优势。综述了正负电子湮灭过程的核子激发态N*产生的实验情况和相关的唯象进展,同时讨论未来发展的一些新方向,如正负电子湮灭过程的核子激发态N*产物的一些新来源等。Up to now, the N* production from e+e- annihilations has been studied only around charmonium region. Charmonium decays to N*s are analogous to (time-like) EM form factors in that the charm quark annihilation provides a nearly pointlike (ggg) current. Complementary to other sources, such as πN, eN and γN reactions, this new source for N* spectroscopy has a few advantages, such as an isospin filter and a low spin filter. The experimental results on N* from e+e- annihilations and their phenomenological implications are reviewed. Possible new sources on N* production from e+e- annihilations are discussed.  相似文献

For J/Ψ↦ pπ0 and pπ+π-, the π0 p and pπ+π- systems are limited to be pure isospin-(1/2) due to isospin conservation. This is a big advantage in studying N* resonances from J/Ψ decays, compared with πN and γN experiments. The process J/Ψ↦ N * or p provides a new way to probe the internal structure of the N* resonances. Here we report a quark model calculation for J/Ψ↦ p, N *(1440) and N *. A more general and realistic four-component magnetized plasma medium consisting of opposite polarity ions and nonthermal distributed positrons and electrons is considered to investigate the stable/unstable frequency regimes of modulated ion-acoustic waves (IAWs) in the D-F regions of Earth's ionosphere. A (3 + 1) -dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which leads to the modulation instability (MI) of IAWs, is derived. The parametric regimes for the existence of the MI, first- and second-order rogue waves, and also their basic features (viz., amplitude, width, and speed) are found to be significantly modified by the effect of physical plasma parameters and external magnetic field. It is found that the nonlinearity of the different types of electronegative plasma system depends on the positive to negative ion mass ratio. It is also shown that the presence of nonthermal distributed electrons and positrons modifies the nature of the MI of the modulated IAWs. The implication of our results for the laboratory plasma [e.g., (Ar+, F ) electronegative plasma] and space plasma [e.g., (H+, H ), () electronegative plasma in D-F regions of Earth's ionosphere] are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Based on the quantum Vlasov equation, the effect of frequency chirp on electron-positron pair production is investigated. The cycle parameter, which characterizes the laser field cycle degree within the pulse, is also considered. In both supercycle and subcycle laser pulses the frequency chirp can greatly enhance the momentum distribution function of created pairs and the pair number density. The pair number density created by a supercycle laser pulse is larger than that by a subcycle pulse under the same laser frequency and chirping. There exists an optimal cycle parameter corresponding to the maximum value of the created pair number density for different chirp rates. It is found that the pair number density is sensitive/insensitive to chirping rate when the cycle parameter lies below/above the optimal one.  相似文献

 通过求解狄拉克方程,对强激光场下真空极化问题进行了研究。理论计算结果表明:在仅随时间变化的电场下,要激发狄拉克海中负能级的电子,需要两个阈值条件,即激光场的电场强度大于等于1016 V/cm和激光场的持续时间大于等于10-21 s。前者主要保证负能态电子有足够的能量跃迁到正能态,后者主要是保证电子在跃迁过程中动量亏损得以补偿。  相似文献
