The nonlinear polarization of an electron plasma in an incident terahertz (THz) field is examined in an iterated shielded potential approximation. It is found to exhibit resonant behavior when the incident terahertz frequency matches the plasma frequency, with concomitant resonant increase of the dielectric function. Such resonant behavior substantially reduces the effectiveness of the screened impurity scattering potentials, admitting resonant increase of conduction when the THz frequency matches the plasma frequency.  相似文献

Oxide heterojunctions made of p-type La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (LSMO) and niobium-doped n-type SrTiO3 (STO:Nb) have been fabricated by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique and characterized under UV light irradiation by measuring the current-voltage, photovoltaic properties and the junction capacitance. It is shown that the heterojunctions work as an efficient UV photodiode, in which photogenerated holes in the STO:Nb substrate are injected to the LSMO film. The maximum surface hole density Q/e and external quantum efficiency γ are estimated to be 8.3×1012 cm−2 and 11% at room temperature, respectively. They are improved significantly in a p-i-n junction of LSMO/STO/STO:Nb, where Q/e and γ are 3.0×1013 cm−2 and 27%, respectively.  相似文献

Fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) thin films have been investigated as an alternative to indium tin oxide anodes in organic photovoltaic devices. The structural, electrical, and optical properties of the FTO films grown by pulsed laser deposition were studied as a function of oxygen deposition pressure. For 400 nm thick FTO films deposited at 300°C and 6.7 Pa of oxygen, an electrical resistivity of 5×10−4 Ω-cm, sheet resistance of 12.5 Ω/, average transmittance of 87% in the visible range, and optical band gap of 4.25 eV were obtained. Organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells based on poly(3-hexylthiophene)/[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester bulk heterojunctions were prepared on FTO/glass electrodes and the device performance was investigated as a function of FTO film thickness. OPV cells fabricated on the optimum FTO anodes (∼300–600 nm thick) exhibited power conversion efficiencies of ∼3%, which is comparable to the same device made on commercial ITO/glass electrodes (3.4%).  相似文献

Current–voltage (JV) characteristics of organic bulk heterojunction diodes based on an interpenetrating network of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl esters (PCBM) have been studied in the dark and under halogen lamp illumination. The diodes contained 1:1 and 1:0.6 weight ratios of P3HT and PCBM. For both diodes the currents measured in dark (J d , commonly known as the dark current) in forward bias are found to agree with the space charge limited current (SCLC). The illuminated current consists of a current due to applied voltage (J da ) and the light generated current (J L ). J da  extracted from the illuminated current agrees well with Shockley’s diffusion and recombination current. This observation shows that illumination changes the SCLC into Shockley’s diffusion and recombination current. The forward current under illumination has been observed to be greater than the dark current, which is contrary to the photo–voltaic (PV) theory. A Van der Pauw Hall measurement is performed on the intended doped ZnO films (Na doped ZnO) grown by using the molecular beam epitaxial method. All as-grown samples show n-type conductivity, whereas the annealed samples (annealing temperature 900℃) show ambiguous carrier conductivity type (n- and p-type) in the automatic Van der Pauw Hall measurement. A similar result has been observed in Li doped ZnO and in as-doped ZnO films by other groups before. However, by tracing the Hall voltage in the Van der Pauw Hall measurement, it is found that this alternative appearance of both n- and p-type conductivity is not intrinsic behavior of the intended doped ZnO films, but is due to the persistent photoconductivity effect in ZnO. The persistent photoconductivity effect would strongly affect the accurate determination of the carrier conductivity type of a highly resistive intended doped ZnO sample.  相似文献

We find a way to record and retrieve images in a photorefractive LiNbO3 crystal using a single white light source instead of a coherent light source. According to the experimental results, we think this recording is not due to the recording of fanning gratings, but a variation of refractive index responding to the non-uniform illumination. We have also simulated the recording using the band transport model taking into account the photovoltaic effect. The simulation result agrees with the experimental results.  相似文献

Organic solar cells based on polymer–fullerene bulk heterojunctions were optimised with respect to the short circuit photocurrent by means of optical modelling. Due to interference effects present in the thin film multilayer device, an inverse relation between active layer thickness and photocurrent was predicted and experimentally verified. A focused gallium ion (Ga+) beam is used to fabricate micro/submicron spacing gratings on the surface of porous NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA ). The crossing type of gratings with double-frequency (25001/mm and 50001/mm) using the focused ion beam (FIB) milling are successfully produced in a combination mode or superposition mode. Based on the double-frequency gratings, high-quality scanning electron microscopy (SEM) Moird patterns are obtained to study the micro-scale deformation of porous NiTi SMA. The grating fabrication technique is discussed in detail. The experimental results verify the feasibility of fabricating high frequency grating on metal surface using FIB milling.  相似文献

In this letter we report the result of an a‐Si:H/nc‐Si:H tandem thin film silicon solar mini‐module fabricated on plastic foil containing intrinsic silicon layers made by hot‐wire CVD (efficiency 7.4%, monolithically series‐connected, aperture area 25 cm2). We used the Helianthos cell transfer process. The cells were first deposited on a temporary aluminum foil carrier, which allows the use of the optimal processing temperatures, and then transferred to a plastic foil. This letter reports the characteristics of the flexible solar cells obtained in this manner, and compares the results with those obtained on reference glass substrates. In this letter quantum chemical calculations are performed on fullerene derivatives with varying reduction potentials, successfully used as electron acceptor in bulk heterojunction solar cells with the aim to investigate the energy levels of the frontier orbitals. We have successfully correlated the theoretical lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels of different fullerenes with the open circuit voltage of the photovoltaic device based on the polymer–fullerene blend. We have also proposed a new fullerene silirane derivative with a raised LUMO level useful to increase the open circuit voltage of a polymer solar cell. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
