A general method based on complex variable theory is proposed to determine the magnetic and elastic fields of a piezomagnetic
body. This method is used to derive the basic relations for complex potentials in the two-dimensional problem of magnetoelasticity,
their general representations for a multiply connected domain, expressions for stresses, displacements, vectors of magnetic
field intensity and magnetic flux density, and magnetic field potential. A closed-form solution is obtained for a body with
an elliptic (circular) hole or crack subjected at infinity to the action of a constant magnetoelastic field. Numerical results
for a piezomagnetic plate with a circular hole are presented

Two techniques of measurements of thin film magnetostriction are compared: direct, when changes of the substrate curvature caused by the film magnetization are controlled, and inverse (“indirect”), when the modification of the magnetic anisotropy induced by the substrate deformation (usually bending) is measured. We demonstrate how both the elastic strength of the substrate and the effective magneto-mechanical coupling between the substrate deformation and magnetic anisotropy of the film depend on different conditions of bending. Equations to be used for magnetostriction value determination in typical cases are given and critical parameters for the corresponding approximations are identified. 相似文献

An analogue of the well known Toupin's version of Saint-Venant's principle is proved for a semi-infinite magnetoelastic cylinder under very mild assumptions on the asymptotic behaviour of the Dirichlet integral of the magnetic field and of the elastic energy. With regard to the elastic fields, we assign on the base either the stress or the displacement vector while we assume that the lateral surface is either traction free or held fixed at zero displacement. We make use of the first Korn inequality and estimate the total energy of the conductor in terms of the data for all the problems considered. 相似文献

In this paper, a set of basic equations for free vibration of ferromagnetic conducting plates in a transverse magnetic field
are presented, in which the coupled effects of magnetization and eddy current on the mechanical behavior of the plate are
included. Based on the quantitative analyses on the vibration frequency and the values of the critical magnetic field for
several supporting conditions of the plate, the effects of the conductivity, the magnetic permeability, the thickness of the
plate and supporting conditions on the vibration frequency of the plate and the critical magnetic field are discussed.

Spontaneous thermal expansion of nematic elastomers 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We study the monodomain (single-crystal) nematic elastomer materials, all side-chain siloxane polymers with the same mesogenic
groups and crosslinking density, but differing in the type of crosslinking. Increasing the proportion of long di-functional
segments of main-chain nematic polymer, acting as network crosslinking, results in dramatic changes in the uniaxial equilibrium
thermal expansion on cooling from the isotropic phase. At higher concentration of main chains their behaviour dominates the
elastomer properties. At low concentration of main-chain material, we detect two distinct transitions at different temperatures,
one attributed to the main-chain, the other to the side-chain component. The effective uniaxial anisotropy of nematic rubber,
r(T) = / proportional to the effective nematic order parameter Q(T), is given by an average of the two components and thus reflects the two-transition nature of thermal expansion. The experimental
data is compared with the theoretical model of ideal nematic elastomers; applications in high-amplitude thermal actuators
are discussed in the end.

An interpretation of the Gough-Joule-Effect from an atomistic point of view is given by a special investigation of lattice
vibrations using a non-interacting model. The calculations are restricted to crystals with ideal crystal structure built up
of only one kind of particles. Approximate analytical formulas are derived. A comparison between the classical macroscopic
theory and the here presented microscopic calculations is drawn.
