The treatment of tertiary esters with triphenylphosphine and iodine under mild conditions gives the most stable alkene in good yield. Formates, acetates and trifluoroacetates were studied.

A simple and convenient reduction of 3,4-diamino derivatives of 2,5-thiadiazole-1-oxide to the corresponding 1,2,5-thiadiazoles has been accomplished using Ph₃P and CCl₄ in dichloromethane.     

Geometrical characteristics of four-coordinate complexes of Ni,Pd, and Pt containing triphenylphosphine as ligand

A statistical analysis based on crystal structure results of 4-coordinated complexes of Ni, Pd, and Pt containing triphenylphosphine as ligand has been performed using the Cambridge Structural Data Base. Distorted square-planar coordination appears as the most probable one presented by these metals.

Geometrische Charakteristika von vier-koordinierten Komplexen des Ni, Pd und Pt mit Triphenylphosphin als Ligand

Zusammenfassung Es wurde unter Verwendung der Cambridge Strukturdatenbank eine statistische Analyse von Resultaten an vier-koordinierten Komplexen des Ni, Pd und Pt mit Triphenylphosphin-Ligand durchgeführt. Dabei ergab sich eine verzerrte quadratisch-planare Koordination als die am meisten wahrscheinliche Geometrie.

     

A new diphenylphosphinite ionic liquid (IL-OPPh2) as reagent and solvent for highly selective bromination, thiocyanation or isothiocyanation of alcohols and trimethylsilyl and tetrahydropyranyl ethers

A new diphenylphosphinite ionic liquid (IL-OPPh₂) is introduced. This ionic liquid is used as both a reagent and a solvent to convert alcohols and trimethylsilyl and tetrahydropyranyl (THP) ethers into their corresponding alkyl bromides, thiocyanates or isothiocyanates in the presence of Br₂ and SCN⁻ at 80 °C. In this ionic liquid, bromination and thiocyanation of alcohols occurs highly selectively in the presence of trimethylsilyl and THP-ethers and also between different classes of alcohols. The use of this ionic liquid allows easy separation of the desired products from the phosphinate by-product.     

Triphenylphosphine Mediated Simple Synthesis of Vinyl-Substituted Benzimidazoles

N -isopropenylbenzimidazolone undergoes a smooth reaction with triphenylphosphine and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates to produce highly functionalized salt-free phosphorus ylides in good yields. These stabilized phosphorus ylides exist as a mixture of two geometrical isomers as a result of restricted rotation around the carbon-carbon partial double bond resulting from conjugation of the ylide moiety with the adjacent carbonyl group. These ylides are converted to dialkyl 2-(1-isopropenyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-but-2-enedioates in boiling toluene.     

Versatile Reagent for Reduction of Azides to Amines

Abstract

Triphenylphosphine (TPP) in refluxing methanol effectively reduces a variety of azides 1a–k to amines 2a–k in very good yields.     

Triphenylphosphine-Catalyzed Simple Synthesis of Dimethyl 1-Aryl-4-ethoxy-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrrole-2,3-dicarboxylates

Ethyl 2-arylamino-2-oxo-acetates undergo a complex reaction with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of triphenylphosphine to produce dimethyl 1-aryl-4-ethoxy-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrrole-2,3-dicarboxylates in good yields. Dynamic NMR study of dimethyl 1-(2-methylphenyl)-4-ethoxy-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrrole-2,3-dicarboxylate shows a fairly high energy barrier ( j G p = 53.2 kJmol m 1 ) for rotation around the N-aryl single bond, which leads to an observable atropisomerism.     

Stereoselective Synthesis of 1,5-Diionic Organophosphorus Compounds

The reactive 1:1 intermediate produced in the reaction between triphenylphosphine and alkyl propiolates or ethynyl phenyl ketone was trapped by isopropylidene Meldrum's acid (5-isopropylidene-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione) to produce alkyl 3-(isopropylidenemalonate-5-yl-5-ylid)-3-methyl-2-triphenylphosphoniomethylidene-butanoates or 3-(isopropylidenemalonate-5-yl-5-ylid)-3-methyl-2-triphenylphosphoniomethylidene-butanone in 75-86% yield. These 1,5-diionic phosphorus betaines exist as (Z) geometrical isomer in CDCl 3 solution.     

ORGANOPHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS,XXXIII THE REACTION OF PHOSPHITE ESTERS WITH QUINISATIN

Abstract

Trialkyl phosphites react with quinisatin (1) and its monohydrate 3 to give the corresponding phosphate derivatives 2a-c. The same compounds are obtained upon reacting 1 and/or 3 with the proper dialkyl phosphite. Structural reasonings based on IR, MS and NMR spectral data, are presented.     

An efficient,rapid and facile procedure for conversion of aldoximes to nitriles using triphenylphosphine and N-halo sulfonamides

N,N,N＇,N＇-Tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide （TBBDA）/triphenylphosphine and N,N,N＇,N＇-tetra- chlorobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide （TCBDA）/triphenylphosphine have been introduced as highly efficient systems for the versatile conversion of aldoxime derivatives into nitriles. The process reported here is operationally simple and reactions have been mildly performed in dichloromethane at room temperature.
