We give some sufficient conditions for the Domínguez-Lorenzo condition in terms of the James constant, the Jordan-von Neumann constant, and the coefficient of weak orthogonality. As a consequence, we obtain fixed point theorems for multivalued nonexpansive mappings.  相似文献

Those who have worked in the Royal Institution of Great Britain have, since its foundation in 1799, made significant contributions to scientific knowledge, to its practical application, and to its communication to a wide variety of audiences. Such work cannot be carried out in an architectural vacuum, and in this paper we examine how the buildings of the Royal Institution, 20 and 21 Albemarle Street in central London, have shaped the work undertaken within its walls and how, on a number of occasions, the buildings have been reconfigured to take account of the evolving needs of scientific research and communication. This paper is based on the Conservation Plan of the Royal Institution that we wrote during 2003. The Conservation Plan did not examine the land owned by the Royal Institution to the north (i.e., 22 and 23 Albemarle Street; for this area see Richard Garnier, “Grafton Street, Mayfair,” Georgian Group Journal 13 (2003), 210–272), but it did discuss 18 and 19 Albemarle Street. In this paper we concentrate on the core Royal Institution buildings at 20 and 21 Albemarle Street. James is Professor of the History of Science at the Royal Institution; he has written widely on the history of nineteenth-century science in its social and cultural contexts and is editor of the Correspondence of Michael Faraday. He is President of the British Society for the History of Science. Anthony Peers is an Associate of Rodney Melville and Partners where he works in the field of building conservation as an architectural historian. In this paper we establish lower bounds for the weakly convergent sequence coefficient WCS(X) of a Banach space X, in terms of some well known moduli and coefficients. By mean of these bounds we identify several properties, of geometrical nature, which imply normal structure. We show that these properties are strictly more general than other previously known sufficient conditions for normal structure.  相似文献

It is proved that every subspace of James Tree space (JT) with non-separable dual contains an isomorph of James Tree complemented in JT. This yields that every complemented subspace of JT with non-separable dual is isomorphic to JT. A new JT like space denoted as TF is defined. It is shown that every subspace of James Function space (JF) with non-separable dual contains an isomorph of TF. The later yields that every subspace of JF with non-separable dual contains isomorphs of c0 and ?p for 2?p<∞. The analogues of the above results for bounded linear operators are also proved.  相似文献

We consider the estimation problem with classical case-cohort data. The case-cohort design was first proposed by Prentice (Biometrics 73:1–11, 1986). Most studies focus on the Cox regression model. In this paper, we consider the linear regression model. We propose an estimator which extends the Buckley–James estimator to the classical case-cohort design. In order to derive the BJE, there is an additional problem of finding the generalized maximum likelihood estimator (GMLE) of the underlying distribution functions. We propose a self-consistent algorithm for the GMLE. We also justify that the GMLE is consistent and asymptotically normally distributed under certain regularity conditions. We further present some simulation results on the asymptotic properties of the BJE and apply our procedure to a data set used in the literature.  相似文献

Let E be a nonempty bounded closed convex separable subset of a reflexive Banach space X   which satisfies the Domínguez–Lorenzo condition, i.e., an inequality concerning the asymptotic radius of a sequence and the Chebyshev radius of its asymptotic center. We prove that a multivalued nonexpansive mapping T:E→2XT:E2X which is compact convex valued and such that T(E)T(E) is bounded and satisfies an inwardness condition has a fixed point. As a consequence, we obtain a fixed-point theorem for multivalued nonexpansive mappings in uniformly nonsquare Banach spaces which satisfy the property WORTH, extending a known result for the case of nonexpansive single-valued mappings. We also prove a common fixed point theorem for two nonexpansive commuting mappings t:E→Et:EE and T:E→KC(E)T:EKC(E) (where KC(E)KC(E) denotes the class of all compact convex subsets of E) when X is a uniformly convex Banach space.  相似文献

In this note, the exact value of the James constant for the l3-l1 space is obtained, J(l3-l1)=1.5573…. This result improves the known inequality, J(l3-l1)≤4/3√10, which was given by Dhompongsa, Piraisangjun and Saejung.  相似文献
