Adsorption process of methylchloride (CH3Cl) on the GaAs (0 0 1)-2 × 4 surface was studied by a scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) measurement. The arsenic rich 2 × 4 surface, which was prepared by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), was exposed to a supersonic molecular beam of CH3Cl with a kinetic energy of 0.06 eV. New bright spots appeared on the CH3Cl exposed surface. They were largely observed at the “B-type” step edge and divided into two types according to their locations. It was suggested that new spots were due to weakly adsorbed CH3Cl molecules without any dissociation. The adsorption mechanism of CH3Cl molecule was also studied by an ab initio Hartree-Fock calculation, which explained the experimental results well.  相似文献

Summary The RHF and geometry optimization sections of the ab initio quantum chemistry code, GAMESS, have been optimized for a network of parallel microprocessors, Inmos T800-20 transputers, using both indirect and direct SCF techniques. The results indicate great scope for implementation of such codes on small parallel computer systems, very high efficiencies having been achieved, particularly in the cases of direct SCF and geometry optimization with large basis sets.The work, although performed upon one particular parallel system, the Meiko Computing Surface, is applicable to a wide range of parallel systems with both shared and distributed memory.  相似文献

The diatomic systems, PO and PO are studied, using numerical Hartree-Fock (NHF) and coupled-cluster calculations. The latter employs a hybrid NHF and Slater orbital basis set. Highly accurate CCSD methods predict bond lengths accurate to <0.004 Å and frequencies to 60 cm–1. In addition the electron affinity of PO is computed to be 0.89 eV compared to an experimental value of 1.09±0.01. A method to separate the total molecular polarizability, calculated in the uncoupled Hartree-Fock approximations, into local contributions is proposed. The method is tested for H2, H2O, H2CO and C6H6 and the results are discussed. It is found that the ratio of the polarizability contributions for two atoms in a molecule almost only depends on the type of atoms and is almost independant of molecule.  相似文献

Some gauge invariant atomic orbitals-coupled-perturbed Hartree-Fock (GIAO-CPHF) calculations were performed for seven indolizine derivatives and their monoprotonated forms. Chemical shift, molecular geometry, and charge distribution data are reported for each molecule. The calculations support the results of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy measurements showing that protonation occurs preferentially at N1. The good agreement between the calculated and observed 13C and 15N chemical shifts show that such calculations can be used for chemical shift assignment purposes. Cation structures and probable sites for electrophilic reaction or second protonation are also discussed.  相似文献

A scheme of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) combined with single-excitation configuration interaction (CIS) approach was employed to make a detailed investigation of the emitting energy for fifteen well-known coumarin derivatives. The results showed that the predicted emitting energies as well as the absorption ones were dominated mainly by the exchange-correlation (XC) functional to be used. So long as a functional is properly chosen, the experimental emitting energy of most derivatives can be accurately reproduced within 0.16 eV by a calculation at the TDDFT/6-31G(d)//CIS/3-21G(d) theoretical level. It was found that, nevertheless, the hybrid functional, B3LYP, well predicted the absorption energies for all the fifteen coumarin derivatives but none of the functionals could work equally well for the emitting energy calculations. Two pure functionals, OLYP and BLYP, yield good emitting energies for the 7-aminocoumarins or derivatives with a N atom connected to 7-position, which exhibit inconspicuous charge transfer (CT) in their excited states, whereas the B3LYP hybrid functional, with 20% Hartree-Fock (HF) exchange energy, performs significantly better than OLYP and BLYP for those 3-substituted coumarins with larger CT in excited states. Thus, in comparison with the absorption energies, the selection of proper functionals for the emitting energy calculations becomes more complex. In all probability, it is effective and doable to choose an XC-functional with alterable fraction of HF exchange energy according to the composition and structure characteristics of molecule.  相似文献

This paper reports on quantum-chemical analysis of the linear structure of CuCl2 by Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) methods and also by time-dependent HF (TD HF) and DFT (TD DFT) techniques. Using pure DFT exchange correlation functional (B3LYP) yields the best agreement with the experimental electronic spectra of CuCl2. In this case, the odd electron is delocalized over the molecule, spin density on copper being 0.27. The ground state of the CuCl2 molecule is 2Πg with linear geometry.  相似文献

The connection between the aromaticity of annulenes and annulene ions with 4v+2 -electrons and the stability of the closed-shell restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF) solutions for these systems is discussed in the framework of the PPP-approximation. It is shown that the tendency towards an uniform electron density distribution in aromatic cycles is paralleled by the stability properties of the corresponding closed-shell RHF solutions. The stability investigations are demonstrated to provide realistic estimates of the critical ring sizes at which Hückel's 4v+2 rule breaks down.  相似文献

In this paper, various implementations of the analytic Hartree–Fock and hybrid density functional energy second derivatives are studied. An approximation-free four-centre implementation is presented, and its accuracy is rigorously analysed in terms of self-consistent field (SCF), coupled-perturbed SCF (CP-SCF) convergence and prescreening criteria. The CP-SCF residual norm convergence threshold turns out to be the most important of these. Final choices of convergence thresholds are made such that an accuracy of the vibrational frequencies of better than 5 cm?1 compared to the numerical noise-free results is obtained, even for the highly sensitive low frequencies (<100–200 cm?1). The effects of the choice of numerical grid for density functional exchange–correlation integrations are studied and various weight derivative schemes are analysed in detail. In the second step of the work, approximations are introduced in order to speed up the computation without compromising its accuracy. To this end, the accuracy and efficiency of the resolution of identity approximation for the Coulomb terms and the semi-numerical chain of spheres approximation to the exchange terms are carefully analysed. It is shown that the largest performance improvements are realised if either Hartree–Fock exchange is absent (pure density functionals) and otherwise, if the exchange terms in the CP-SCF step of the calculation are approximated by the COSX method in conjunction with a small integration grid. Default values for all the involved truncation parameters are suggested. For vancomycine (176 atoms and 3593 basis functions), the RIJCOSX Hessian calculation with the B3LYP functional and the def2-TZVP basis set takes ~3 days using 16 Intel® Xeon® 2.60GHz processors with the COSX algorithm having a net parallelisation scaling of 11.9 which is at least ~20 times faster than the calculation without the RIJCOSX approximation.  相似文献
