Carboxylic acid–diamine-based Cu2+ chromogenic sensors (3 and 4) exhibited colour switching from red to blue with good sensitivity and selectivity towards Cu2+ among other physiologically important alkali, alkaline earth and heavy metal ions. This colour-switching phenomenon arises due to selective deprotonation of aryl amine NH by Cu2+. Significantly, chemosensor 3max 492 nm) shows multiple modes of complexation towards Cu2+. It is very much evident from the appearance of blue colour (λmax 615 nm) at pH >7.0 and yellow colour (λmax 465 nm) at pH < 4.0. In addition, chemosensor 3 exhibits a unique logic gate system that involves ‘INHIBIT’ and ‘TRANSFER’ logic gates.  相似文献

Summary: Significant stresses develop during cure in functional and structural applications of polymeric materials ranging from glass fiber composites to advanced functional polymers used in microelectronics, optoelectronics, and biomaterials applications. These stresses arise from a combination of chemical shrinkage and stiffness buildup in a confined geometry. In this paper, a new method for direct measurement of cure‐induced stresses during curing of thermosetting materials by using the iso‐strain mode of a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) has been developed. A thermal tape was used to facilitate maintaining a constant strain and initiate the iso‐strain measurement. Two quartz rods with a small gap were used to contain the material. The top of the quartz rod and one side of the thermal tape were secured by the fixed clamp, while the bottom quartz rod and the other side of the thermal tape were clamped with the moveable force probe. The cure force was thereby directly measured by the probe during the curing process. The cure stress buildup was observed to occur after a certain duration that corresponds to the gel point. Experimental results clearly show that curing at lower temperature could lead to higher cure stress due to the earlier onset of vitrification. An investigation of the stress buildup as a function of degree of cure indicates that a majority of the cure stress was generated in the vitrification regime. The methodology proposed herein provides an accurate experimental approach to investigate the cure‐induced stress generated in a thermosetting material in applications ranging from microelectronics and optoelectronics packaging to biomaterials amongst others.

We obtain the dynamics in number and phase difference, for Bose condensates that tunnel between two wells of a double-well atomic trap, using the (nonlinear) Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The dynamical equations are of the canonical form for the two conjugate variables, and the Hamiltonian corresponds to that of a momentum-shortened pendulum, supporting a richer set of tunneling oscillation modes than for a superconductor Josephson junction, that has a fixed-length pendulum as a mechanical model. Novel modes include ‘inverted pendulum’ oscillations with an average angle of π; and oscillations about a self-maintained population imbalance that we term ‘macroscopic quantum self-trapping’. Other systems with this phase-number nonlinear dynamics include two-component (interconverting) condensates in a single harmonic trap, and He3B superfluids in two containers connected by micropores.  相似文献

In this work, a bicyclo[4.4.1]undecane scaffold is used to hold oligo(phenylene ethynylene) units in a cofacially stacked arrangement along the entire length of the conjugated units. We study the impact that the resulting strong interchain interactions have on the photophysical properties. The length of the individual oligomer branches was varied from three to five rings to investigate the effect of conjugation on the electronic properties of the stacked segments. Absorption and fluorescence spectra were recorded and compared to those of the corresponding unstacked analogues. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations were carried out and helped to rationalize the low-energy features present in the fluorescence spectra of the stacked systems. The calculations indicate that the low-energy emissions are due to the presence of excimer-like states. The stronger intensity of the low-energy fluorescence band observed in the five-ring stacked system compared to the three-ring analogue is attributed to the smaller activation barrier that separates the local intrachain state and the excimer-like state in the former compound.  相似文献
