Experiments were carried out to verify models of the reflection coefficients and the phase transitions for matched or loaded dielectric-filled waveguide couplers in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF). A model for the plasma load simulation in the waveguide is developed and examined permanently using the time-domain features of an HP·8510 network analyzer. The loss properties of deionized water, which was used for laboratory waveguide dielectric tests, are also discussed. Close agreement between the coupling models and measurements is noted. For a matched coupler, the optimal power-coupling efficiency obtained is 95% and for a simulated-plasma loaded coupler this value is in the range of 80%, depending upon the plasma load. If it is assumed that the effects of the high neutron flux present in a reactor environment on the dielectric strength of water are negligible (or eliminated), and that the dielectric breakdown strength of water is approximately 3 kV/cm at nearly 80% coupling efficiency, the power handling capability of the water-filled coupler is estimated to be in the range of 3-6 MW  相似文献

4,6‐Dinitro‐N,N′‐di‐n‐octylbenzene‐1,3‐diamine, C22H38N4O4, (I), 4,6‐dinitro‐N,N′‐di‐n‐undecylbenzene‐1,3‐diamine, C28H50N4O4, (II), and N,N′‐bis(2,4‐dinitrophenyl)octane‐1,8‐diamine, C20H24N6O8, (III), are the first synthetic meta‐dinitroarenes functionalized with long‐chain aliphatic amine groups to be structurally characterized. The intra‐ and intermolecular interactions in these model compounds provide information that can be used to help understand the physical properties of corresponding polymers with similar functionalities. Compounds (I) and (II) possess near‐mirror symmetry, with the octyl and undecyl chains adopting fully extended anti conformations in the same direction with respect to the ring. Compound (III) rests on a center of inversion that occupies the mid‐point of the central C—C bond of the octyl chain. The middle six C atoms of the chain form an anti arrangement, while the remaining two C atoms take hard turns almost perpendicular to the rest of the chain. All three molecules display intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the amine and nitro groups, with the same NH group forming a bifurcated intermolecular hydrogen bond to the nitro O atom of an adjacent molecule. In each case, these interactions link the molecules into one‐dimensional molecular chains. In (I) and (II), these chains pack so that the pendant alkyl groups are interleaved parallel to one another, maximizing nonbonded C—H contacts. In (III), the alkyl groups are more isolated within the molecular chains and the primary nonbonded contacts between the chains appear to involve the nitro groups not involved in the hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

Broadband microwave propagation and absorption processes and backscatter from objects immersed in a magnetized, finite, warm plasma column is addressed. In particular, the propagation, absorption, and backscatter of electron cyclotron waves are measured and compared with bounded vacuum hot plasma wave propagation, absorption, and ray tracing theory. The nonreciprocal nature of the transmission and absorption in an anisotropic plasma is measured. A homodyne technique which isolates the scattering from a single object in the plasma from the scattering from all other objects in the plasma and the walls of the containment device is developed and utilized. The range of absorption frequencies and nonreciprocity of the transmission signal are shown to be well correlated with wave trajectories in the associated regions of the Clemmow-Mullaly-Allis (CMA) diagram. It is shown that quasi-parallel propagation of electron cyclotron waves near resonance is present and that the transverse effects of wavenumber on propagation in the cylindrical plasma are small  相似文献

The nonlinear characteristics of a 280-GHz free electron laser (FEL) are simulated by numerical computation. The three-dimensional set of coupled nonlinear differential equations is solved for a set of TE and TM modes valid for the high gain Compton regime. The use of a nonlinear taper for efficiency enhancement, the sensitivity of gain to competing mode power levels, space-charge effects, and the effect of electron beam source distributions on gain and efficiency are examined for a 10-MeV, 3-kA beam. It is found that the nonlinear taper greatly enhances the gain and efficiency and makes the saturation power levels relatively insensitive to the competing mode power levels. The efficiency is increased to 48% by means of a nonlinear taper in which the 3-D and wiggler-averaged codes are compared and the effects of space charge are found to reduce the efficiency to a level of 32%. The effect of beam quality in terms of the four volume phase space is examined and found to have an observable effect at this wavelength  相似文献
