Molten LLDPE and HDPE plates (thickness 2 mm) have been inflated into a circular cylinder (inner radius 31 mm) under isothermal conditions. Low deformation rates allow the plates to be inflated considerably into the cylinder, and at high inflation rates an early burst is observed.Axis-symmetric numerical simulation of the inflations have been performed, using a constitutive equation in the form of a separable memory integral where the strain dependence is described by the Linear Molecular Stress Function (L-MSF) model with dissipative convective constraint release. The material parameters in the constitutive model are obtained using liner viscoelastic (oscillatory shear) and uni-axial elongational measurements.The numerical simulations were performed for inflation of a flat plate and a perturbed plate, where a small circular cone was removed from the centre of the surface of the plate. This was done in order to investigate the stability of the inflations. It is shown that all of the inflations are hydrodynamically unstable, though the effect on the occurrence of the burst is limited. One exception is at slow inflation, where an unexpected burst may appear as a consequence of minute deviations from an ideal flat plate. All of the numerical calculations show quantitative agreement with the experiments for a wide range of experimental conditions. This strongly suggests that the initiation of the burst is a hydrodynamic phenomenon.The critical parameters in the inflation of molten linear polymers have been investigated using the Gel equation as a memory function (M(s)=Ans –(1+n)) and inflating the plate with a constant velocity for the top of the plate. The hydrodynamic burst in a linear polymer is mainly associated with the linear viscoelastic properties and only slightly with the non-linear strain dependence. Increased (linear) elasticity reduces the inflated volume, at the same inflation velocity, before the burst occurs. Furthermore, the critical parameter for the occurrence of the burst (whether or not the burst occurs) is related to the crossover point (G=G) in linear viscoelasticity.  相似文献

Two molten low-density polyethylene melts, shaped as plates, have been inflated into a circular cylinder during isothermal conditions. Lowering the inflation rates allow the plates to be inflated into a larger volume of the cylinder before bursting. Numerical simulations of the inflations have been performed, using a time-strain separable constitutive K-BKZ equation based on the potential function from the Doi–Edwards theory. The material parameters in the constitutive model are based on liner viscoelastic and time dependent uniaxial elongational viscosities. The numerical calculations show quantitative agreement with the experiments, including the appearance of the burst, for a wide range of experimental conditions. This strongly suggests that the initiation of the burst in the polymer melts is a hydrodynamic phenomenon.  相似文献

For a number of computational search problems, the existence of a polynomial-time algorithm for the problem implies that a polynomial-time algorithm for the problem is constructively known. Some instances of such self-witnessing polynomial-time complexity are presented. Our main result demonstrates this property for the problem of computing the prime factorization of a positive integer, based on a lemma which shows that a certificate for primality or compositeness can be constructed for a positive integer p in deterministic polynomial time given a complete factorization of p - 1.  相似文献

Background  

In the field of auditory neuroscience, much research has focused on the neural processes underlying human sound localization. A recent magnetoencephalography (MEG) study investigated localization-related brain activity by measuring the N1m event-related response originating in the auditory cortex. It was found that the dynamic range of the right-hemispheric N1m response, defined as the mean difference in response magnitude between contralateral and ipsilateral stimulation, reflects cortical activity related to the discrimination of horizontal sound direction. Interestingly, the results also suggested that the presence of realistic spectral information within horizontally located spatial sounds resulted in a larger right-hemispheric N1m dynamic range. Spectral cues being predominant at high frequencies, the present study further investigated the issue by removing frequencies from the spatial stimuli with low-pass filtering. This resulted in a stepwise elimination of direction-specific spectral information. Interaural time and level differences were kept constant. The original, unfiltered stimuli were broadband noise signals presented from five frontal horizontal directions and binaurally recorded for eight human subjects with miniature microphones placed in each subject's ear canals. Stimuli were presented to the subjects during MEG registration and in a behavioral listening experiment.  相似文献
