ABSTRACTTiC-MgO composite was developed as a heating element for X-ray study in the multi-anvil high pressure apparatus. We synthesized TiC-MgO blocks (50–70 wt.% of TiC) by compression in a cold isostatic press followed by baking in a gas flow furnace. Heaters of tubular shape were manufactured from the synthesized blocks either by lathe or numerically controlled milling machine. The so-produced heating elements have been proved to generate temperatures up to 2250?K at 10?GPa, condition where classical graphite heaters are not suitable anymore due to graphite-diamond transition. These new heaters have been successfully used for in situ X-ray radiography and diffraction measurements on liquid Fe alloys, exploiting excellent X-ray transparency. 相似文献

Controlled Synthesis and Degradation of Poly(N‐(isobutoxymethyl) acrylamide) Homopolymers and Block Copolymers 下载免费PDF全文
The homopolymerization of the water‐insoluble N‐(isobutoxymethyl)acrylamide (IBMA) is investigated for the first time by nitroxide‐mediated polymerization. The homopolymerization is characterized by a linear increase in number average molecular weight (Mn) versus conversion (X) to X > 0.80 while maintaining dispersities of Mw/Mn < 1.30. A strong Arrhenius relationship correlates the apparent rate constants and the homopolymerization temperatures between 105 and 120 °C. All poly(IBMA) homopolymers are then successfully chain‐extended with styrene (S) to form well‐defined block copolymers of poly(IBMA)‐b‐poly(S) suggesting a high degree of livingness of the poly(IBMA) macroinitiators. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry are both used to characterize the thermal properties of the homopolymers and block copolymers and identify possible unique degradation of the poly(IBMA) block through imide formation at elevated temperatures.

A graph is strongly even‐cycle decomposable if the edge set of every subdivision with an even number of edges can be partitioned into cycles of even length. We prove that several fundamental composition operations that preserve the property of being Eulerian also yield strongly even‐cycle decomposable graphs. “Far UV-C” is an effective disinfection method that can be deployed in occupied areas. Commercially available Krypton Chloride (KrCl*) excimer lamps filtered to emit at 222 nm are effective in disinfecting pathogens and safe for human exposure up to an allowable threshold exposure, which is much longer than for conventional UV lamps emitting at 254 nm. Laboratory and controlled field testing of a filtered KrCl* excimer lamp for disinfection of a virus suspended in a thin film aqueous solution in an occupied office setting was conducted. Complete inactivation of almost 6 log (99.9999%) of Phi6 bacteriophage virus was achieved in ~20 min of exposure time in a field setting, equivalent to a dose of about 10 mJ cm−2. The Phi6 inactivation rate constant for the field test results were not statistically different from laboratory values (P > 0.05, paired t-test). When positioned at 1 m distance from possible human exposure, this device can be used safely for almost 4.5 h of continuous direct exposure without any acute or long-term adverse health effects. This study illustrates the applicability and deployment of Far UV-C for pathogen reduction and can help in decision making for implementation of Far UV-C for disinfection in human-occupied environments. 相似文献

Monitoring ambient solar UVR levels provides information on how much there is in both real time and historically. Quality assurance of ambient measurements of solar UVR is critical to ensuring accuracy and stability and this can be achieved by regular intercomparisons of spectral measurement systems with those of other organizations. In October and November of 2013 a solar UVR spectroradiometer from Public Health England (PHE) was brought to Melbourne for a campaign of intercomparisons with a new Bentham spectrometer of Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) and one at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), supported by New Zealand's National Institute for Water and Atmosphere (NIWA). Given all three spectroradiometers have calibrations that are traceable to various national standards, the intercomparison provides a chance to determine measurement uncertainties and traceability that support UV measurement networks in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. UV Index measurements from all three systems were compared and ratios determined for clear sky conditions when the scans from each instrument were within 2 min of each other. While wavelengths below 305 nm showed substantial differences between the PHE unit and the two other systems, overall the intercomparison results were encouraging, with mean differences in measured UV Index between the BOM/NIWA and those of PHE and ARPANSA of <0.1% and 7.5%, respectively. 相似文献

The first organometallic BOPHY (BOPHY=bis(difluoroboron)‐1,2‐bis{(pyrrol‐2‐yl)methylene}hydrazine) containing two ferrocene substituents was prepared through a Knoevenagel condensation between tetramethyl substituted BOPHY and ferrocene carboxaldehyde. An unprecedentedly strong long‐range (≈17.2 Å) metal–metal coupling in this new complex was investigated using electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical, and chemical oxidation methods. Electrochemical data is indicative of a 200 mV separation between the first and the second ferrocene‐centered oxidation processes. Formation of the mixed‐valence states and appearance and disappearance of two NIR bands were observed during stepwise oxidation of the first organometallic BOPHY. The electronic structure and the nature of the excited states in this new chromophore were studied by DFT and TDDFT calculations. 相似文献

Zinc oxide nanoparticles were tethered to carbon nanotubes to form an electrochemical sensing composite, which was characterized using transmission electron microscopy, and X‐ray photoelectron and attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopies. The sensor′s electrocatalytic response for measuring hydrogen peroxide was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry in a dynamic, well defined swimming pool environment. A wide, linear response in the concentration range of 0.025–7.0 mM at a potential of ?0.360 V was shown, with rapid response time (<5 s). The sensor had excellent reproducibility, exhibited stability and selectivity, and was able to measure concentrations in a dynamic environment as they varied. 相似文献

There is a need in the numerical simulation of reservoir performance to use average permeability values for the grid blocks. The permeability distributions to be averaged over are based on samples taken from cores and from logs using correlations between permeabilities and porosities and from other sources. It is necessary to use a suitable effective value determined from this sample. The effective value is a single value for an equivalent homogeneous block. Conventionally, this effective value has been determined from a simple estimate such as the geometric mean or a detailed numerical solution of the single phase flow equation.If the permeability fluctuations are small then perturbation theory or effective medium theory (EMT) give reliable estimates of the effective permeability. However, for systems with a more severe permeability variation or for those with a finite fraction of nonreservoir rock all the simple estimates are invalid as well as EMT and perturbation theory.This paper describes a real-space renormalization technique which leads to better estimates than the simpler methods and is able to resolve details on a much finer scale than conventional numerical solution. Conventional simulation here refers to finite difference (or element) techniques for solving the single phase pressure equation. This requires the pressure and permeability at every grid point to be stored. Hence, these methods are limited in their resolution by the amount of data that can be stored in core. Although virtual memory techniques may be used they increase computer time. The renormalization method involves averaging over small regions of the reservoir first to form a new averaged permeability distribution with a lower variance than the original. This pre-averaging may be repeated until a stable estimate is found. Examples are given to show that this is in excellent agreement with computationally more expensive numerical solution but significantly different from simple estimates such as the geometric mean. 相似文献
