A laboratory selection of salinity for a low salinity water-low salinity surfactant (LS-LSS) process is presented in this paper with systematical investigation on surfactant phase behavior, interfacial tension (IFT), and dynamic retention in porous media with IOS2024 and isoamyl alcohol (IAA) as surfactant system. The results show that 0.4 wt% IOS2024 with 1 wt% IAA can provide ultra-low IFT of 10?3 mN/m at around 3000–4000 mg/L total dissolved solids, but at that salinity range the surfactant retention is very high. The search for an optimum surfactant formulation has to consider solution properties and retention in addition to the low IFT. The salinity for a LS-LSS process should thus not be focused on either optimal salinity or ultra-low IFT, but instead the best choice could be a compromise between the properties in question. The three-phase region, where ultra-low IFT are found, is also associated with high retention values. However, we show that as salinity is increased from a two-phase region with oil solubilized in a water continuous microemulsion, there is a region close to the three-phase boundary which has potential. This region does not give ultra-low, but fairly low (10?2 mN/m in this case) interfacial tensions, and also significantly lower retention.   相似文献

The adsorption of poly(styrene sulfonate), PSS, of different molecular weights (70,000, 500,000, and 1,000,000 mol/kg), from aqueous solutions on alpha-alumina has been investigated. PSS of the lower molecular weight adsorbs less than the others whose adsorption isotherms overlap. The adsorption is found to increase with increasing ionic strength of the solutions indicating that both electrostatic and non-electrostatic contributions are involved in the adsorption process. Upon addition of the anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS, PSS is found to adsorb less the more SDS added. SDS is found to be preferentially adsorbed as shown both from the simultaneous adsorption of the components and also from the sequential adsorption process where SDS in all cases displaces preadsorbed PSS from the solid surface. The displacement of preadsorbed polyelectrolyte by surfactant is a very slow process and the displacement is less pronounced as the molecular mass of the polyelectrolyte increases indicating the fewer number of contact points to the surface. This is further underlined by the effect on the displacement of PSS by SDS upon increasing the ionic strength of the solutions.  相似文献

A laboratory study has been conducted to examine the retention processes of nitrogen and pesticides through vegetated buffer zones compared to bare soil. Soil columns with low biological activity and vegetation columns with normal biological activity were tested. Pesticides frequently used in vegetable production (namely aclonifen, azinphos-methyl, chlorpropham, diazinon, dimethoate, fluazinam, iprodione, linuron, metalaxyl, metamitron, metribuzin and propachlor) equal to 1/50 to 1/5 part of recommended doses, and nutrients equal to 1, 5 and 20 mg N/L and 0.2 mg P/L, were added. The pesticide retention was more than 60% for all pesticides, except dimethoate, with a retention of about 30% in columns with low microbial activity. Biological transformation and plant uptake were important for removal of nitrogen and organic matter. Nitrogen retention was high (over 90%) in vegetation columns. Plant uptake and phosphorus content in soil were important for phosphorus retention.  相似文献

This article considers methods for the detection of oestrogenic effects in marine fish. As a marker for oestrogenic effects, plasma vitellogenin was determined in Atlantic cod, Atlantic salmon and goldsinny wrasse using ELISA with homologous or heterologous antisera. The sensitivity of marine fish to oestrogen exposure is species-dependent and cod is a suitable species for monitoring the effects of environmental oestrogens.  相似文献

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonistic contaminants were identified in roadside snow samples. Snow was collected in Oslo, Norway, and compared to a background sample collected from a mountain area. The water and particulate fractions were analysed for AhR agonists using a dioxin-responsive, chemically activated luciferase expression (CALUX) cell assay and by gas chromatography coupled to high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry with targeted analysis for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and broad-spectrum non-target analysis. The AhR agonist levels in the dissolved fractions in the roadside samples were between 15 and 387 pg/L CALUX toxic equivalents (TEQ(CALUX)). An elevated AhR activity of 221 pg TEQ(CALUX) per litre was detected in the mountain sample. In the particle-bound fractions, the TEQ(CALUX) was between 1,350 and 7,390 pg/L. One possible explanation for the elevated levels in the dissolved fraction of the mountain sample could be the presence of black carbon in the roadside samples, potentially adsorbing dioxin-like compounds and rendering them unavailable for AhR interaction. No polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans or polychlorinated biphenyls were detected in the samples; the occurrence of PAHs, however, explained up to 9 % of the AhR agonist activity in the samples, whilst comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry GCxGC-ToF-Ms identified PAH derivatives such as polycyclic aromatic ketones and alkylated, nitrogen sulphur and oxygen PAHs in the particle fractions. The (large) discrepancy between the total and explained activity highlights the fact that there are other as yet unidentified AhR agonists present in the environment.  相似文献

We present an experiment where mid-infrared radiation is detected indirectly via the second-order non-linear process of sum frequency generation. The mid-infrared sources used for the experiment are quantum cascade lasers, and we use a pump wavelength that yields an up-converted wavelength within the detection window of Silicon avalanche photo diodes. Compared with direct detection using state-of-the-art mid-infrared semiconductor detectors, the detection scheme we propose in this paper has the advantages of greater bandwidth and lower noise equivalent power.  相似文献

Given a polytope σ ? ? m , its characteristic distribution δσ generates a D-module which we call the characteristic D-module of σ and denote by M σ. More generally, the characteristic distributions of a cell complex K with polyhedral cells generate a D-module M K , which we call the characteristic D-module of the cell complex. We prove various basic properties of M K , and show that under mild topological conditions on K, the D-module theoretic direct image of M K coincides with the module generated by the B-splines associated to the cells of K (considered as distributions). The use of sub-2?µm particles columns is finding its use in ultrahigh-pressure supercritical fluid chromatography (UHPSFC), opening up for fast analysis and high-resolution separations. The development of new and more robust systems also makes the technique more interesting for bioanalytical analysis, where the need for reproducible and fast analysis with little downtime is great. One area where the use of UHPSFC could become a useful tool is in the separation of structural isomers of new psychoactive substances (NPS). 2-, 3-, and 4- structural isomers of fluoroamphetamine, fluoromethamphetamine, and methylmethcathinone, isomeric pairs of the synthetic cannabinoids UR-144/UR-144 degradant, XLR-11/XLR-11 degradant, JWH-015/JWH-073, and JWH-019/JWH-122, as well as amphetamine and several stable isotope-labeled amphetamine internal standards were separated with UHPSFC-MS/MS and compared with ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) MS/MS. NPS isomers that were difficult to separate with reversed-phase UHPLC-MS/MS were separated by UHPSFC; in most cases with an orthogonal retention order to UHPLC. In contrast to the behavior seen when using reversed-phase UHPLC, the deuterated amphetamines eluted later than amphetamine with UHPSFC. 13C6-labeled amphetamine coeluted with amphetamine for all conditions, making this the best choice of an internal standard.  相似文献

We describe a program for continuing education in Quality management and metrology. It may be followed by class lectures, by videoconference or by individual distance learning over the Internet. An important feature for students who attend classes is visits to selected institutions for demonstrations of quality management in practice. For students using distance learning, multimedia presentations containing a total of 2 h of video and supporting documentation is the alternative to the visits. The program is aimed at personnel from all fields, and its emphasis is on the generality of quality principles, attitudes and motivation for quality thinking, measurements in quality work, as well as the use of system audits and other elements of quality management in related fields.  相似文献
