We study observables on monotone σ-complete effect algebras. We find conditions when a spectral resolution implies existence of the corresponding observable. We characterize sharp observables of a monotone σ-complete homogeneous effect algebra using its orthoalgebraic skeleton. An n-perfect pseudo effect algebra means that it can be decomposed into n+1 comparable slices. We show that such a pseudo effect algebra satisfying a Riesz Decomposition Property type corresponds to the lexicographic product of a cyclic group \(\frac{1}{n}\mathbb{Z}\) with some po-group. Let X be a Banach space, let Y be its subspace, and let Г be an infinite set. We study the consequences of the assumption that an operator T embeds ?221E;(Г) into X isomorphically with T(c0(Г)) ⊂ Y. Under additional assumptions on T we prove the existence of isomorphic copies of c0(Гℵ0) in X/Y, and complemented copies ?∞(Г) in X/Y. In concrete cases we obtain a new information about the structure of X/Y. M.P. Olson, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 28, 537–544 (1971) showed that the system of effect operators of the Hilbert space can be ordered by the so-called spectral order such that the system of effect operators is a complete lattice. Using his ideas, we introduce a partial order, called the Olson order, on the set of bounded observables of a complete lattice effect algebra. The analytical capabilities of a high-resolution mass spectrometer in combination with a 13.56 MHz glow discharge ion source for the analysis of semiconducting materials (silicon carbide and gallium arsenide) were studied. It was shown that single positively charged ions of sample material have about 10 eV higher average energy than the ions of the discharge and residual gas. Therefore effective energy separation of the ions of analyte from the ions of the discharge and residual gas was achieved by adjusting the ion transfer optics (breadth and position of energy slit), which improves the analytical capabilities of the developed method.Some analytical applications are presented to illustrate the performance of r.f. GDMS for the bulk analysis of semiconducting materials. The results of the trace element analysis of gallium arsenide and silicon carbide samples are compared with data of independent methods (LIMS, ICP-AES, SIMS).Dedicated to Professor Dr. rer. nat.
