Hydrazones Possessing a Phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline Moiety as Hole Transporting Materials

Hydrazones containing 1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline units were synthesized starting from diphenylamine. These compounds were found to constitute novel hole transporting materials and were characterized by the time of flight method. The hole drift mobility in these compounds exceeds 10⁻⁶ cm² V⁻¹ s⁻¹ at an electric field of 10⁶ V cm⁻¹.     

Low-temperaturic template synthesis of macrocyclic cobalt(III) chelates with (N,N,S,S)-donor atomic ligands in the cobalt(II)–dithiooxamide-formaldehyde and cobalt(II)–dithiooxamide-glyoxal systems in the Co2[Fe(CN)6]-gelatin-immobilized matrices

The complexing processes in the triple cobalt(II)–dithiooxamide-formaldehyde and cobalt(II)–dithiooxamide-glyoxal systems taking place in the cobalt(II)hexacyanoferrate(II) gelatin-immobilized matrix in contact with aqueous alkaline solutions (pH ca. 12) containing (dithiooxamide+formaldehyde) and (dithiooxamide+glyoxal), have been studied. Template synthesis leading to macrocyclic coordination compounds with tetradentate N,N,S,S-donor ligands-(2,8-dithio-3,7-diaza-5-oxanonan-dithioamide-1,9) and (2,7-dithio-3,6-diazaoctadien-3,5-dithioamide-1,8) with Co^II–Co^III redox-process occurs under these specific conditions where dithiooxamide, formaldehyde and glyoxal are the ligand synthons.     

Luminescent properties of PP and LDPE films and rods doped with the Eu(III)‐La(III) complex

The work is devoted to luminescent properties of trivalent lanthanide complexes dispersed in thermoplastic host matrices. Polyethylene films and polypropylene‐rods, both doped with these complexes, were manufactured using an extrusion technique. Two kinds of dopants were used: Eu(III)‐thenoyltrifluoroacetone‐1,10‐phenanthroline complex (1) and Eu(III)‐La(III)‐1,10‐phenanthroline complex (2). Absorption, excitation, emission spectra and lifetime of luminescence were studied. The impact of the polymer matrix on the emission spectra was investigated. Emission spectra of the films were studied at room and helium temperatures. Time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF‐SIMS) surface mapping showed that in the Eu(III)‐La(III) complex europium forms islands (clusters) with a dimension of 1 µm, whereas lanthanum was dispersed more uniformly in the polymer matrix. Synthesis of 1,2-Diphenylpyrazolidin-4-ol and its Derivatives

Summary. A synthesis of 1,2-diphenylpyrazolidin-4-ol via direct heterocyclization of 1,2-diphenylhydrazine with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane, its O-epoxypropyl-, O-ethyl-, and O-benzylderivatives are described. Novel hydrazone derivatives with pyrazolidine units were also synthesized. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods as well as elemental analyses.     

Dimension of complete simple games with minimum

Weighted majority games have the property that players are totally ordered by the desirability relation (introduced by Isbell in [J.R. Isbell, A class of majority games, Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 7 (1956) 183–187]) because weights induce it. Games for which this relation is total are called complete simple games. Taylor and Zwicker proved in [A.D. Taylor, W.S. Zwicker, Weighted voting, multicameral representation, and power, Games and Economic Behavior 5 (1993) 170–181] that every simple game (or monotonic finite hypergraph) can be represented by an intersection of weighted majority games and consider the dimension of a game as the needed minimum number of them to get it. They provide the existence of non-complete simple games of every dimension and left open the problem for complete simple games.     

Electrochemical modification of Bi2S3 coatings in a nickel plating electrolyte

The electrochemical behavior of Bi₂S₃ coatings in Watts nickel plating electrolyte was investigated using the cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance, X-ray diffraction, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis methods. During the bismuth sulfide coating reduction in Watts background electrolyte in the potential region from −0.4 to −0.6 V, the Bi₂S₃ and Bi(III) oxygen compounds are reduced to metallic Bi, and the decrease in coating mass is related to the transfer of S²⁻ ions from the electrode surface. When the bismuth sulfide coating is reduced in Watts nickel plating electrolyte, the observed increase in coating mass in the potential region −0.1 to −0.4 V is conditioned by Ni²⁺ ions reduction before the bulk deposition of Ni, initiated by Bi₂S₃. In this potential region, the reduction of Bi(III) oxygen compounds can occur. After the treatment of as-deposited bismuth sulfide coating in nickel plating electrolyte at E = −0.3 V, the sheet resistance of the layer decreases from 10¹³ to 500–700 Ω cm. A metal-rich mixed sulfide Ni₃Bi₂S₂–parkerite is obtained when as-deposited bismuth sulfide coating is treated in Watts nickel plating electrolyte at a potential close to the equilibrium potential of the Ni/Ni²⁺ system and then annealed at temperatures higher than 120 °C.     

15-[(Z)-Phenylmethylidene]-7,14-dioxadispiro[5.1.5.2]pentadecanes: stereoselective one-pot assembly from cyclohexanones and phenylacetylene in a KOH/DMSO suspension

Cyclohexanones react with phenylacetylene in a KOH/DMSO suspension (80 °C, 1 h) to give unexpectedly phenylmethylidene dispirocyclic ketals, 15-[(Z)-phenylmethylidene]-7,14-dioxadispiro[5.1.5.2]pentadecanes, in 16-22% yields (along with the anticipated β,γ- and α,β-ethylenic ketones).
