Bis(imidazolylporphyrinatozinc) molecules linked through a 1,3-butadiynylene moiety respond to the solvents they are dissolved in to afford exclusively extended (E) or stacked (S) supramolecular polymers. This system is expected to be a solvation/desolvation indicator. However, the principles underlying the solvent-dependent formation of the two types of polymers and the mechanism of the transformation between them are unclear. The formation of the polymers is considered to depend on the two types of complementary coordination bonds that can be formed and the π–π interactions between the porphyrins. In this study, the contributions and solvent dependence of both the coordination bonds and the π–π interactions have been investigated. The results clearly indicate that the coordination bonds are weakly or little solvent-dependent, and that the π–π interactions function effectively only in the inner porphyrins of the S-polymer and are strongly solvent-dependent. Thermodynamic analysis revealed that the formation of the E- or S-polymer in solution is determined by the total energies and the type of solvent used. The transformation of the E- to S-polymer was investigated by gel permeation chromatography. The kinetics of the transformation were also determined. The role of the terminal imidazolylporphyrinatozinc moieties was also investigated: The results indicate that the transformation from the E- to S-polymer occurs by an exchange mechanism between the polymers, induced by attack of terminal free imidazolyl groups on a polymer to zinc porphyrins on other polymers. 相似文献

In the research field of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), lanthanoid–lanthanoid interactions, so-called f–f interactions, are known to affect the SMM properties, although their magnitudes are small. In this article, an SMM with very weak f–f interactions is reported, and the effects of the interactions on the SMM properties are discussed. X-ray structural analysis of the DyIII-CdII-phthalocyaninato sextuple-decker complex (Dy2Cd3) reveals that the intramolecular Dy−Dy length in Dy2Cd3 is more than 13 Å, which is longer than the intermolecular Dy−Dy length. Even though the two DyIII ions are far apart, intermolecular ferromagnetic dipole–dipole interactions are observed in Dy2Cd3. From detailed analysis of ac magnetic susceptibilities, quantum tunneling of the magnetization (QTM) in Dy2Cd3 is partially suppressed owing to the existence of very weak Dy−Dy interactions. We developed a highly sensitive and specific high‐performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization interface to determine 24S‐hydroxycholesterol, a major metabolite of cholesterol formed by cytochrome P450 family 46A1, in human plasma without any derivatization step. Phosphate buffered saline including 1% Tween 80 was used as the surrogate matrix for preparation of calibration curves and quality control samples. The saponification process to convert esterified 24S‐hydroxycholesterol to free sterols was optimized, followed by liquid–liquid extraction using hexane. Chromatographic separation of 24S‐hydroxycholesterol from other isobaric endogenous oxysterols was successfully achieved with gradient mobile phase comprised of 0.1% propionic acid and acetonitrile using L‐column2 ODS (2 μm, 2.1 mm id × 150 mm). This assay was capable of determining 24S‐hydroxycholesterol in human plasma (200 μL) ranging from 1 to 100 ng/mL with acceptable intra‐ and inter‐day precision and accuracy. The potential risk of in vitro formation of 24S‐hydroxycholesterol by oxidation from endogenous cholesterol in human plasma was found to be negligible. The stability of 24S‐hydroxycholesterol in relevant solvents and human plasma was confirmed. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/di-isononyl phthalate systems with PVC content of 45.5 (PVC8) and 70.4 wt% (PVC6) were prepared
by a hot roller at 150 °C and press molded at 180 °C. The dynamic viscoelasticity and elongational viscosity of PVC8 and PVC6
were measured in the temperature range from 150 to 220 °C. We have found that the storage and loss shear moduli, G′ and G″, of PVC8 and PVC6 exhibited the power-law dependence on the angular frequency ω at 190 and 210 °C, respectively. Correspondingly, the tan δ values did not depend on ω. These temperatures indicate the critical gel temperature T
gel of each system. The critical relaxation exponent n obtained from these data was 0.75 irrespective of PVC content, which was in agreement with the n values reported previously for the low PVC concentration samples. These results suggest that the PVC gels of different plasticizer
content have a similar fractal structure. Below T
gel, the gradual melting of the PVC crystallites takes place with elevating temperature, and above T
gel, a densely connected network throughout the whole system disappears. Correspondingly, the elongational viscosity behavior
of PVC8 and PVC6 exhibited strong strain hardening below T
gel, although it did not show any strain hardening above T
gel. These changes in rheological behavior are attributed to the gradual melting of the PVC crystallites worked as the cross-linking

Steady-progressive-wave solutions are sought to the nonlinear wave equation derived previously [J. Fluids Struct. 16 (2002) 597] for flexural motions of an elastic beam traveling in an air-filled tube along its center axis at a subsonic speed. Fluid-structure interactions are taken into account through aerodynamic loading on the lateral surface of the beam subjected to small but finite deflection but end effects and viscous effects are neglected. Linear dispersion characteristics are first examined by exploiting the small ratio of the induced mass to the mass of the beam per unit length. Centered around the traveling speed of the beam, there exists such a narrow range of propagation velocity that the linear steady propagation is prohibited. In this range, it is revealed that some interesting nonlinear solutions exist. The periodic wavetrain is found to exist as the exact solution. Asymptotic analysis is then made by applying the method of multiple scales and the stationary nonlinear Schrödinger equation is derived for a complex amplitude. A monochromatic solution to this equation corresponds to the exact periodic solution. Imposing undisturbed boundary conditions at infinity, it is revealed that the localized solution exists as a result of balance between the linear instability and the nonlinearity. This solution is checked by solving the nonlinear equation numerically. It is further revealed that the amplitude-modulated wavetrain exists not only in the range of the velocity mentioned above but also outside of it. 相似文献

To achieve unique molecular-recognition patterns, a rational control of the flexibility of porous coordination polymers (PCPs) is highly sought, but it remains elusive. From a thermodynamic perspective, the competitive relationship between the structural deformation energy (Edef) of soft PCPs and the guest interaction is key for selective a guest-triggered structural-transformation behavior. Therefore, it is vital to investigate and control Edef to regulate this competition for flexibility control. Driven by these theoretical insights, we demonstrate an Edef-modulation strategy via encoding inter-framework hydrogen bonds into a soft PCP with an interpenetrated structure. As a proof of this concept, the enhanced Edef of PCP enables a selective gate-opening behavior toward CHCl3 over CH2Cl2 by changing the adsorption-energy landscape of the compounds.
