The charging and controlled oxidative doping of single organometallic ferrocene nanoparticles is reported in aqueous sodium tetrafluoroborate using the nano‐impacts method. It is shown that ferrocene nanoparticles of approximately 105 nm diameter are essentially quantitatively oxidatively doped with the uptake of one tetrafluoroborate anion per ferrocene molecule at suitably high overpotentials. By using lower potentials, it is possible to achieve low doping levels of single nanoparticles in a controlled manner.  相似文献

The wide range of applications of poly(ethylene)glycol (PEG) in primarily chromatography and other closely related analytical methods has been reviewed. PEG has been used as mobile phase modifier in capillary electrophoresis (CE) as well as ion exchange, size exclusion, and hydrophobic interaction liquid chromatography (LC) methods. Generally in the presence of PEG, LC retention of macromolecules is altered and stability of their structure is maintained. PEG was effective in CE as a permanent coating for fused silica capillaries to shield free silanol groups that can cause protein adsorption to the wall resulting in band broadening and low recovery of the separated proteins. In gas chromatography, PEG-based stationary phases were applied for separation of polar analytes. PEG could also serve as an extraction medium in solid phase microextraction and aqueous two phase systems. Selected analytical applications, primarily LC and CE, involving PEG to facilitate the determination of either small molecules or macromolecules such as proteins in their native form are discussed and representative figures provided.

A series of carbon-coated, nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide photocatalysts was produced and characterized. N-doped TiO2 powder samples were prepared using a sol-gel method and subsequently used for making doped-TiO2 thin films on glass substrates. Carbon layers were coated on the films by a thermal decomposition method using catechol. Diffuse reflectance spectra and Mott-Schottky analyses of the samples proved that nitrogen doping and carbon coating can slightly lower the band gap of TiO2, broaden its absorption to visible light and enhance its n-type character. According to photocatalytic tests against model contaminants, carbon-coated nitrogen-doped TiO2 films have better performance than simple TiO2 on the degradation of Rhodamine B dye molecules, but are poorly effective for degrading 4-chlorophenol molecules. Several possible explanations are proposed for this result, supported by scavenging experiments. This reveals the importance of a broad substrate scope when assessing new photocatalytic materials for water treatment, something which is often overlooked in many literature studies.  相似文献

Polyoxometalates have been proposed in the literature as nanoelectronic components, where they could offer key advantages with their structural versatility and rich electrochemistry. Apart from a few studies on their ensemble behaviour (as monolayers or thin films), this potential remains largely unexplored. We synthesised a pyridyl-capped Anderson–Evans polyoxometalate and used it to fabricate single-molecule junctions, using the organic termini to chemically “solder” a single cluster to two nanoelectrodes. Operating the device in an electrochemical environment allowed us to probe charge transport through different oxidation states of the polyoxometalate, and we report here an efficient three-state transistor behaviour. Conductance data fits a quantum tunnelling mechanism with different charge-transport probabilities through different charge states. Our results show the promise of polyoxometalates in nanoelectronics and give an insight on their single-entity electrochemical behaviour.  相似文献

Previous studies of different solvates of 2-methylpyridyllithium (2-picolyllithium) have uncovered electronic structures corresponding to aza-allyl and enamido resonance forms of the metallated pyridine-based compounds. Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of [2-CH2Li(THF)2C5H4N], a new THF solvate. X-ray crystallographic studies reveal a dimeric arrangement featuring a non-planar eight-membered [NCCLi]2 ring, in which the primary cation-anion interaction is between the central Li atom and the C atom of the deprotonated methyl group [length, 2.285(2) Å], suggesting a new carbanionic resonance structure for this 2-picolyllithium series. The significant carbanionic character of [2-CH2Li(THF)2C5H4N] was confirmed by gas-phase DFT calculations [B3LYP/6-311+G(d)] with the calculated electron density interrogated by means of quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analyses. For comparison these computational analyses were also performed on the literature structures of [2-CH2Li(2-Picoline)C5H4N] and [2-CH2Li(PMDETA)C5H4N]. In a reactivity study, [2-CH2Li(THF)2C5H4N] was found to undergo nucleophilic addition to pyridine to generate dipyridylmethane in a good yield.  相似文献

Piperazine-based drugs, such as N-benzylpiperazine (BZP), became attractive in the 2000s due to possessing effects similar to amphetamines. Herein, BZP, in addition to its pyridyl analogues, 2-, 3-, and 4-pyridylmethylpiperidine (2-PMP, 3-PMP, and 4-PMP respectively) was subjected to the hyperpolarisation technique Signal Amplification By Reversible Exchange (SABRE) in order to demonstrate the use of this technique to detect these piperazine-based drugs. Although BZP was not hyperpolarised via SABRE, 2-PMP, 3-PMP, and 4-PMP were, with the ortho- and meta-pyridyl protons of 4-PMP showing the largest enhancement of 313-fold and 267-fold, respectively, in a 1.4-T detection field, following polarisation transfer at Earth's magnetic field. In addition to the freebase, 4-PMP.3HCl was also appraised by SABRE and was found not to polarise, however, the addition of increasing equivalents of triethylamine (TEA) produced the freebase, with a maximum enhancement observed upon the addition of 3 equivalents of TEA. Further addition of TEA led to a reduction in the observed enhancement. SABRE was also employed to polarise 4-PMP.3HCl (~20% w/w) in a simulated tablet to demonstrate the forensic application of the technique (138-fold enhancement for the ortho-pyridyl protons). The amount of 4-PMP.3HCl present in the simulated tablet was quantified via NMR using D2O as a solvent and compared well to complimentary gas chromatography–mass spectrometry data. Exchanging D2O for CD3OD as the solvent utilised for analysis resulted in a significantly lower amount of 4-PMP.3HCl being determined, thus highlighting safeguarding issues linked to drug abuse in relation to determining the amount of active pharmaceutical ingredient present.  相似文献
