Novel symmetrical macroheterocyclic compounds were prepared by the reactions of 2,3-dicyanopyridine and 2,3-dicyanopyraine with 2,5-diamino-1,3,4-thiadiazole in butanol in the presence of sodium butylate. Physicochemical properties and biological activity of the products were studied.

Electrokinetic Phenomena in Sulfonated Cation-Exchange Membranes with Tetraalkylammonium Ions

The electric transport of solvent ions and molecules through membrane systems containing cations of tetraalkylammonium bases is studied. The interrelation between electrokinetic characteristics of sulfonated cation-exchange membranes at different degrees of their saturation with tetrabutylammonium ions and the content of water in membranes at equilibrium is established. A new type of conductor-insulator percolation transitions is revealed for homogeneous MF-4SK perfluorinated membranes saturated with organic counterions. This transition is interpreted with allowance for the concept of the governing role of narrow channels in the membrane microstructure. The electroosmotic permeability of MF-4SK membranes in solutions of sodium and tetraethylammonium chloride, as well as in their mixtures, is studied. synthesis and properties of β-brominated metal complexes of meso-triphenylcorrole

Spectral properties and chemical stability of Mn(III), Mn(IV), Fe(III), Fe(IV), and Cu(III) complexes of β-octabromotriphenylcorrole [(β-Br)₈(ms-Ph)₃Cor], synthesized from β-unsubstituted compounds by their reaction with molecular bromine, were studied. Cyclic voltammetry, electron microscopy, and X-ray spectral microanalysis were used to obtain electrochemical characteristics of metal corroles M(β-Br)₈(ms-Ph)₃Cor and gain insight into the surface texture of active catalysts on the basis of metal corroles. The electron-acceptor β-bromine substitution in the MCor macrocycle shifts the equilibrium in electron-donor solvents to lower oxidation states of the metals and also stabilizes manganese and destabilizes copper complexes in the protondonor medium HOAc-H₂SO₄. The electrocatalytic activity of the complexes in the reduction of molecular oxygen depends on the nature of the ligand and increases in the order Mn ≤ Cu ? Fe in the case of β-octabrominated macrocycles. The character of distribution of active centers on the surface of the catalysts was established for the first time.     

Synthesis and properties of macroheterocyclic compounds containing 1-imino-2-phenyl-1H-inden-3-amine fragments

Reaction of 1-imino-2-phenyl-1H-inden-3-amine with 3,3′-dichloro-, 2,2′-disulfo-, and 2,2′-dinitrobiphenyl-4,4′-diamines gave 2 : 1 and 1 : 2 linear condensation products and symmetrical macroheterocycles. The products were characterized by the IR, UV, and 1H NMR data.     

Current knowledge on the extraction,purification, identification,and validation of bioactive peptides from seaweed

Seaweed (macroalgae) is considered as a sustainable bioresource rich in high-quality nutrients such as protein. Seaweed protein can be used as an alternative to other protein sources. Furthermore, these proteins are natural reservoirs of bioactive peptides (BAPs) associated with various health benefits such as antioxidant, antihypertensive, and antidiabetic activities. However, seaweed-derived BAPs remain underexploited due to challenges that arise during protein extraction from algal biomass. Coupled with this, limited proteomic information exists regarding certain seaweed species. This review highlights the current state of the art of seaweed protein extraction techniques, e.g., liquid, ultrasound, microwave, pulsed electric field, and high hydrostatic pressure assisted extraction. The review also focuses on the enzymatic hydrolysis of seaweed proteins and characterization of the resultant hydrolysates/peptides using electrophoretic and chromatographic techniques. This includes reference to methods employed for separation, fractionation, and purification of seaweed BAPs, as well as the methodologies used for identification, e.g., analysis by mass spectrometry. Furthermore, a bioinformatics or in silico approach to aid discovery of seaweed BAPs is discussed herein. Based on the information available to date, it is suggested that further research is required in this area for the development of seaweed BAPs for nutraceutical applications.     

Tooth-root stress calculation of high transverse contact ratio spur and helical gears

In this paper, a non-uniform model of load distribution along the line of contact of spur and helical gears, obtained from the minimum elastic potential criterion, has been used, combined with the equations of the linear elasticity, to evaluate the tooth-root stress of high transverse contact ratio gears. The values of both critical stress and load conditions have been obtained and a complete analysis of the tooth bending strength has been carried out. As the load per unit of length at any point of the line of contact and any position of the meshing cycle has been described by a very simple equation, a complete study of the location and the value of the tooth-root stress has been carried out. From this study, a recommendation for the calculation of the bending load capacity of high transverse contact ratio spur and helical gears is proposed.
