Measurement data of long flexible riser models are used to study the drag amplification due to multi-mode vortex induced vibration (VIV). The riser model was towed in a towing tank, and vibration along its length was measured indirectly at a set of discrete points using accelerometers, along with the total drag and lift forces on the model. These data were used to fit expressions for the drag amplification taking into account the spatial variation of the vibration amplitude along the riser length. The results were compared with the existing empirical expression used in the VIV analysis tool SHEAR7 as well as other test data. It was found that the expression in SHEAR7 agrees well with the test data. However, for larger vibration amplitudes, it appears to under-predict the drag amplification.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a teaching experiment regarding the theory of polynomial approximations at the university mathematics teaching in Sweden. The experiment was designed by applying Variation theory and by using the free dynamic mathematics software GeoGebra. The aim of this study was to investigate if the technology-assisted teaching of Taylor polynomials compared with traditional way of work at the university level can support the teaching and learning of mathematical concepts and ideas. An engineering student group (n = 19) was taught Taylor polynomials with the assistance of GeoGebra while a control group (n = 18) was taught in a traditional way. The data were gathered by video recording of the lectures, by doing a post-test concerning Taylor polynomials in both groups and by giving one question regarding Taylor polynomials at the final exam for the course in Real Analysis in one variable. In the analysis of the lectures, we found Variation theory combined with GeoGebra to be a potentially powerful tool for revealing some critical aspects of Taylor Polynomials. Furthermore, the research results indicated that applying Variation theory, when planning the technology-assisted teaching, supported and enriched students’ learning opportunities in the study group compared with the control group.  相似文献

An acoustic pulse propagating on a two-mode fiber can act as a beam splitter in a scanning interferometer. When this device is employed in white-light interferometry, the effects of distributed coupling and dispersive interferometer arms need to be considered. A theory suitable for treating acousto-optic interaction of partially coherent light in a moving interaction region was developed. It was found that differential optical dispersion should be negligible and the acoustic pulse length short. Also the coherence time should be short but long compared to the intermodal group delay difference over a pulse length. Experiments with long acoustic pulses were performed, and fairly good agreement with theory was obtained.  相似文献

The first purely alkoxide-based sol-gel route to nano-phase powders and thin films of perovskite La0.75Sr0.25MnO3 is described. The phase and microstructure evolution on heat treatment of free gel films to form the target nano-phase oxide were investigated by TGA, IR spectroscopy, powder XRD, SEM and TEM-EDS. The xerogel consisted of a hydrated oxo-carbonate, without remaining alkoxo groups or solvent. Heating at 5°C·min–1 decomposed the carbonate groups and yielded the pure perovskite La0.75Sr0.25MnO3 at 760°C. The cell dimensions were virtually unchanged from the first observation of perovskite at 680°C, to 1000°C, 4 h. The monoclinic cell of La0.75Sr0.25MnO3 obtained at 1000°C, 4 h, had the dimensions a = 5.475(1), b = 5.504(2), c = 7.771(1) Å, = 90.50(2), fitting the literature data quite well. Crack-free, homogenous, 150 nm thick La0.75Sr0.25MnO3 films were prepared by spin-coating Si/SiO2/TiO2/Pt and polycrystalline -Al2O3 substrates with a 0.6 M alkoxide solution, followed by heating at 5°C·min–1 to 800°C, 30 min.  相似文献

The heterobimetallic metal-organic framework {[(BPDC)PtCl(2)](3)(Gd(H(2)O)(3))(2)}.5H(2)O (BPDC = 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylate) has been designed and synthesized by hydrothermal methods. The new coordination polymer contains subunits of (BPDC)PtCl(2) (1) where both N atoms of the BPDC ligand are attached to a square-planar Pt(II) center. The two remaining cis coordination sites at Pt(II) are occupied by chloride ions. The final structure (2) of the polymeric network is obtained when Gd(III) ions link together the (BPDC)PtCl(2) units, which are organized in sheets, into larger blocks. These blocks are stacked along the crystallographic [010] direction and are held together by a hydrogen bonding scheme that involves carboxylate oxygen atoms and water molecules in the coordination sphere of Gd. The coordination polymer 2 can be obtained in a single-step reaction or in a two-step synthesis where the corresponding Pt complex (1) was first synthesized followed by reacting 1 with Gd(NO(3))(3).6H(2)O. In situ high temperature powder X-ray diffraction shows that the crystalline coordination polymer transforms into an anhydrous modification at 100 degrees C. This modification is stable to 350 degrees C, at which temperature the structure starts to decompose. The coordination sphere around platinum in the polymer closely resembles organometallic Pt complexes that have been previously found to catalytically or stoichiometrically activate and functionalize hydrocarbon C-H bonds in homogeneous systems.  相似文献

Efficient mutation scanning techniques are needed for the rapid detection of novel disease-associated mutations and rare-sequence variants of putative importance. The large size of the breast cancer 1 gene (BRCA1) and the many mutations found throughout its entire coding sequence make screening for mutations in this gene particularly challenging. We have developed a method for screening exon 11 of the BRCA1 gene based on restriction enzyme digestion of fluorescence-labeled polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products followed by single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) using an automated capillary electrophoresis system, denoted capillary restriction endonuclease fingerprinting (REF)-SSCP electrophoresis. Using this strategy on a control set of samples, we were able to detect 17 of 18 known sequence alterations. The method was then applied to screen 73 Norwegian females with family histories of breast and/or ovarian cancer. A total of 172 sequence alterations were detected, including substitutions, insertions, and deletions. One novel substitution of unknown function was identified. Sequencing of all samples negative in the capillary REF-SSCP system gave no additional mutations confirming the high sensitivity of the described methodology. Capillary REF-SSCP electrophoresis appeared as a technically convenient technique, requiring amplification of fewer PCR fragments than traditional SSCP. The novel strategy allows high-throughput mutation scanning without radioactive labeling and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).  相似文献

Ionization potential measurements of the volatile species from the three isomers of the tautomeric hydroxyl and mercapto pyridines show that these are in the hydroxy and mercapto forms rather than appearing as lactams and betaines. The two organically pillared layered zinc hydroxides [Zn2(OH)2(ndc)], CPO-6, and [Zn3(OH)4(bpdc)], CPO-7, were obtained in hydrothermal reactions between 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (ndc) and zinc nitrate (CPO-6) and 4,4′biphenyldicarboxylate (bpdc) and zinc nitrate (CPO-7), respectively. In CPO-6, the tetrahedral zinc atoms are connected by two μ2-OH groups and two carboxylate oxygen atoms, forming infinite layers extending parallel to the bc-plane. These layers are pillared by ndc to form a three-dimensional structure. In CPO-7, the zinc hydroxide layers are containing four-, five- and six coordinated zinc atoms, and the layers are built like stairways running along the [001] direction. Each step is composed of three infinite chains running in the [010] direction. Both crystal structures were solved from conventional single crystal data. Crystal data for CPO-6: Monoclinic space group P21/c (No. 14), a=11.9703(7), b=7.8154(5), c=6.2428(4) Å, β=90.816(2)°, V=583.97(6) Å3 and Z=4. Crystal data for CPO-7: Monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15), a=35.220(4), b=6.2658(8), c=14.8888(17) Å, β=112.580(4)°, V=3033.8(6) Å3 and Z=8. The compounds were further characterized by thermogravimetric- and chemical analysis.  相似文献

Because protein identifications rely on matches with sequence databases, high-throughput proteomics is currently largely restricted to those species for which comprehensive sequence databases are available. The identification of proteins derived from organisms with unsequenced genomes mainly depends on homology searching. Here, we report the use of a simplified, gel-based, chemical derivatization strategy for de novo sequence analysis using a MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometer. This approach allows the determination of de novo peptide sequences of up to 20 amino acid residues in length. The protocol was applied on a proteomic study of 2-D PAGE-separated proteins from Halorhodospira halophila, an extremophilic eubacterium with yet unsequenced genome. Using three different homology-based search algorithms, we were able to identify more than 30 proteins from this organism using subpicomole quantities of protein.  相似文献
