Brønsted acid catalyzed synthesis of 2-aryl-quinazolinones via cyclization of 2-aminobenzamide with benzonitriles in PEG

A simple and efficient Brønsted acid catalyzed synthesis of 2-aryl-quinazolinones via cyclization of 2-aminobenzamides with benzonitrile in PEG under metal and ligand-free condition. All substituted benzonitriles were also well participated with the formation of the corresponding products in moderate to good yields.     

Segmented conjugated macromolecules containing silicon and boron: ADMET synthesis and luminescent properties

Boron‐ and silicon‐containing conjugated homo‐ and copolymers could be synthesized using acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) condensation of bis‐styryl monomers. Both, tri‐and tetra‐coordinated boron monomers were successfully polymerized forming homopolymers, or random copolymers (if polymerized together with a silicon containing co‐monomer). Polymer molecular weights M_n were measured at ～6000 to 15,000 g/mol (NMR end group analysis) with molecular weight distributions M_w/M_n ～1.8 to 2.2. The polymers absorbed at λ_max ～317 to 406 nm and emitted at λ_max ～370 to 494 nm with fluorescent quantum efficiencies ～24 to 48%. The copolymer with tri‐coordinate boron showed highly efficient fluorescence quenching in the presence of fluoride ions at ratios boron/fluoride ～5/1, demonstrating its potential as anion sensor. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermal analyses of organic powders made from precipitation polymerization of triallyl monomers

Organic solids have been prepared from radical-initiated activation of solutions composed of tetradecane and triallyl trimesate (TAM) monomer or triallyl phosphate (TAP) monomer using a recently developed variation of precipitation polymerization methods. The powders, which comprise fused aggregates, are shown to be rich in monomer (83–88 wt% TAM or 86–92 wt% TAP), and are believed to be formed by a combination of hydrocarbon addition and allyl group oligomerization. TAM-g-tetradecane primary particles are on the order of 500 nm in diameter, while TAP-g-tetradecane particles are on the order of 100–200 nm diameter. These products are thermochemically assessed using a combination of differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry and pyrolysis combustion flow calorimetry. The phosphorus-containing TAP-g-tetradecane shows exothermic activity around 230 °C, likely due to thermal decomposition of the trialkyl phosphate moiety, and may find use in advanced materials applications.     

Radiolabeled novel peptide for imaging somatostatin-receptor expressing tumor: synthesis and radiobiological evaluation

The aim of this study was to synthesis, a radiolabeled (^99mTc) new somatostatin-analogue 6-hydrazinopyridine-3-carboxylic-acid (HYNIC)-Asn³-octreotate (^99mTc-HYNIC-AATE), and to evaluate as a candidate for imaging somatostatin-receptor (SSTR)-positive tumors and also compare it with ^99mTc-HYNIC-Tyr³-octreotide (^99mTc-HYNIC-TOC). Synthesis was performed by Fmoc-solid-phase strategy and ^99mTc labeled by SnCl₂. Biodistribution and imaging properties of new radiopeptide were also studied in C6 tumor bearing rat. Radiolabeling was performed at high specific activities and it showed high binding-affinity for SSTR2. In biodistribution, radiopeptides have showed high and receptor-specific uptake in the SSTR2 positive organs, tumor with rapid renal excretion from non-target tissues. These results demonstrated that ^99mTc-HYNIC-AATE is a new specific radioligand for scintigraphy of somatostatin-receptor-positive tumors.     

Hubble parameter data constraints on dark energy

We use Hubble parameter versus redshift data from Stern et al. (2010) [1] and Gaztañaga et al. (2009) [2] to place constraints on model parameters of constant and time-evolving dark energy cosmological models. These constraints are consistent with (through not as restrictive as) those derived from supernova Type Ia magnitude-redshift data. However, they are more restrictive than those derived from galaxy cluster angular diameter distance, and comparable with those from gamma-ray burst and lookback time data. A joint analysis of the Hubble parameter data with more restrictive baryon acoustic oscillation peak length scale and supernova Type Ia apparent magnitude data favors a spatially-flat cosmological model currently dominated by a time-independent cosmological constant but does not exclude time-varying dark energy.
