The deprotonation energies of benzene, chlorobenzene, all di-, tri-, tetrachlorobenzenes, and pentachlorobenzene have been determined in the gas phase using a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer. The values measured differ only slightly, though significantly, from the corresponding data for oligofluorobenzenes. The heavier halogen acidifies orthopositions slightly less and meta-positions slightly more than fluorine does. Moreover, the contributions of three or more chloro substituents are not perfectly additive. In fact the accumulation attenuates the contributions somewhat. Quantum chemical calculations at the MP2/6-311+G* level reproduce the gas-phase acidities fairly well, but reveal special effects when extended to experimentally not observable benzenides carrying the halogens at anion-remote positions. Competition experiments have been performed to assess the relative reactivity of nine oligochlorobenzenes towards sec-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran at -100 degrees C. An almost exact linear correlation between logarithmic rates and gas-phase acidities has been found.  相似文献

We have measured the supercurrent flowing through a nonhysteretic, ultrasmall, voltage-biased Josephson junction. In contrast with experiments performed so far on hysteretic Josephson junctions, we find a supercurrent peak whose maximum I(s max) increases as the temperature T decreases. The asymptotic T = 0 value of I(s max) agrees with the junction Ambegaokar-Baratoff critical current, as predicted by theory.  相似文献

Poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid) (St/AA) and poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid) (St/MA) nanolatexes with different acid contents were prepared by emulsion copolymerization and were analyzed by capillary electrophoresis (CE) and by laser doppler velocimetry (LDV). Due to the intrinsic differences in the methodologies, CE (separative technique) and LDV (zetametry, nonseparative technique) lead to very different electrophoretic mobility distributions. Beyond these differences, the variation of the electrophoretic mobility is a complex and nonlinear function of the hydrodynamic radius, the ionic strength, and the zeta potential. To gain better insight on the influence of the ionic strength and the acid content on the electrophoretic behavior of the nanolatexes, the electrophoretic mobility data were changed into surface charge densities using the O'Brien, White, and Ohshima modeling. This approach leads to the conclusion that the surface charge density is mainly controlled at high ionic strength (~50 mM) by the adsorption of anionic surfactants coming from the sample. On the contrary, at low ionic strength, and/or in the presence of neutral surfactant in the electrolyte, the acid content was the main parameter controlling the surface charge density of the nanolatexes.  相似文献

We present a GPU accelerated solver for simulations of bluff body flows in 2D using a remeshed vortex particle method and the vorticity formulation of the Brinkman penalization technique to enforce boundary conditions. The efficiency of the method relies on fast and accurate particle-grid interpolations on GPUs for the remeshing of the particles and the computation of the field operators. The GPU implementation uses OpenGL so as to perform efficient particle-grid operations and a CUFFT-based solver for the Poisson equation with unbounded boundary conditions. The accuracy and performance of the GPU simulations and their relative advantages/drawbacks over CPU based computations are reported in simulations of flows past an impulsively started circular cylinder from Reynolds numbers between 40 and 9500. The results indicate up to two orders of magnitude speed up of the GPU implementation over the respective CPU implementations. The accuracy of the GPU computations depends on the Re number of the flow. For Re up to 1000 there is little difference between GPU and CPU calculations but this agreement deteriorates (albeit remaining to within 5% in drag calculations) for higher Re numbers as the single precision of the GPU adversely affects the accuracy of the simulations.  相似文献

The generation of air microbubbles in microfluidic systems or in capillaries could be of great interest for transportation (single cell analysis, organite transportation) or for liquid compartmentation. The physicochemical characterization of air bubbles and a better understanding of the process leading to bubble generation during electrophoresis is also interesting in a theoretical point of view. In this work, the generation of microbubbles on hydrophobic Glaco™ coated capillaries has been studied in water-based electrolyte. Air bubbles were generated at the detection window and the required experimental parameters for microbubbles generation have been identified. Generated bubbles migrated against the electroosmotic flow, as would do strongly negatively charged solutes, under constant electric field. They have been characterized in terms of dimensions, electrophoretic mobility, and apparent charge.  相似文献

Polyelectrolytes are widely used in capillary electrophoresis as coating agents of silica capillaries to prevent adsorption phenomena and improve the repeatability of peptide and protein analysis. A systematic study of the coating experimental conditions has been carried out to optimize coating stability and performance. The main experimental parameters studied were the type and concentration of polyelectrolytes used in several monolayer and multilayer coatings, the ionic strength of coating and stabilizing solutions, and the procedures used for coating and capillary storage. Electroosmotic flow magnitude, direction and repeatability were used to monitor coating stability. Coating ability to limit adsorption was investigated by monitoring variations of migration times, time-corrected peak areas and separation efficiency of test peptides. Capillary-to-capillary and batch-to-batch reproducibility was also studied. In addition, the separation performance of polyelectrolyte coatings were compared to those obtained with bare silica capillaries.  相似文献

We have linked the structural and dynamic properties in aqueous solution of amphiphilic charged diblock copolymers poly(butyl acrylate)-b-poly(acrylic acid), PBA-b-PAA, synthesized by controlled radical polymerization, with the physico-chemical characteristics of the samples. Despite product imperfections, the samples self-assemble in melt and aqueous solutions as predicted by monodisperse microphase separation theory. However, the PBA core are abnormally large; the swelling of PBA cores is not due to AA (the Flory parameter chi(PBA/PAA), determined at 0.25, means strong segregation), but to h-PBA homopolymers (content determined by liquid chromatography at the point of exclusion and adsorption transition, LC-PEAT). Beside the dominant population of micelles detected by scattering experiments, capillary electrophoresis CE analysis permitted detection of two other populations, one of h-PAA, and the other of free PBA-b-PAA chains, that have very short PBA blocks and never self-assemble. Despite the presence of these free unimers, the self-assembly in solution was found out of equilibrium: the aggregation state is history dependant and no unimer exchange between micelles occurs over months (time-evolution SANS). The high PBA/water interfacial tension, measured at 20 mN/m, prohibits unimer exchange between micelles. PBA-b-PAA solution systems are neither at thermal equilibrium nor completely frozen systems: internal fractionation of individual aggregates can occur.  相似文献

Water soluble diblock copolymers composed of a long poly(styrene sulfonate) chain (between 200 and 400 monomers) and a short poly(ethylene propylene) or poly(tert.-butylstyrene) hydrophobic end (20-50 monomers) are highly associative and form micelles in aqueous solution. The micelles are composed of a small hydrophobic core and a polyelectrolyte corona, the dimensions of which can be estimated by neutron and light scattering. These physical techniques are, however, not amenable to discriminate easily between the free copolymer and the copolymer micelle. Capillary electrophoresis was implemented in this work as a new and effective tool to investigate the behaviour of such associative copolymer systems. Since the rate of exchange between the micellised and free states is very slow in comparison with the time scale of the electrophoretic process, the electropherograms of the diblock copolymers obtained in plain aqueous borate buffers exhibit two peaks assigned to the two states mentioned above. The identification of the two peaks was first made on the basis of the retention orders of the two peaks equally obtained in similar conditions by size-exclusion chromatography. The copolymer micelles appeared to have a smaller electrophoretic mobility than the free copolymers. This peak assignment is also consistent with the observed ratio of the time-corrected peak areas and peak dispersions. The effects of the copolymer concentration, electric field, temperature and hydroorganic composition of the medium was also studied. Such systems do not exhibit a defined concentration threshold equivalent to a classical critical micelle concentration. Adding methanol to the electrolyte resulted in the progressive loss of baseline return between the two peaks, which might be attributed to a slight increase in the rate of exchange between the two states. Finally, adding a neutral surfactant to the electrolyte at a concentration in excess of its critical micelle concentration resulted in a decrease in the electrophoretic mobility of the peak attributed to the free copoplymer, while the electrophoretic mobility of the copolymer micelle remained unperturbed.  相似文献

Tetrahydropyranylation of methoxyphenols by acidic catalysis gives a mixture of C-and/or O-tetrahydropyranylated derivatives. It appears that the electron-donating group and the acidic strength of the catalyst play an important influence in directing such reactions. According to Stokes' treatment, the ionic mobility of particles, which are small with respect to Debye length, is usually considered to be proportional to the nominal charge and inversely proportional to the hydrodynamic radius. Experimentally, it is well known, however, that the ionic mobility of a small multicharged molecule does not depend linearly on its nominal charge in a wide range. This behavior can be accounted for by a condensation of the charge or a modification of the friction coefficient with the charge. This paper presents a semiempirical modeling of the actual mobility based on the assumption of additivity of frictional contributions pertaining to the uncharged molecular backbone and to each charged or uncharged moiety. Condensation of the charge was not considered. The model first appeared to be suitable for multicharged analytes having a characteristic dimension smaller than the Debye length, such as benzene polycarboxylic acids and polysulfated disaccharides. This approach was then adapted to account for the actual mobilities of singly and evenly charged oligomers (N-mers) having a dimension smaller than or similar to the Debye length. Rather good experimental agreement was obtained for polyalanines and polyglycines (N < or = 6), fatty acid homologs, fully sulfonated polystyrene oligomers (N < or = 13), and polycytidines (N < or = 10). Especially the influence of the polymerization degree on the mobility of oligomers having identical charge densities was clarified. It is also shown that the electrophoretic contribution to the overall friction coefficient increases linearly with the nominal charge but hardly depends on the chemical nature of the charged moieties. This model should be of interest to evaluate the role of various physicochemical phenomena (hydrodynamic and electrophoretic frictions, hydrodynamic coupling, charge condensation) involved in the migration of charged oligomers.  相似文献
