Synthesis of 2-Arylquinazolin-4(3H)-one Derivatives Catalyzed by Iodine in [bmim+][ ]

Controlling selectivity of the reactions of aromatic aldehydes and 2-aminobenzamide in ionic liquid catalyzed by iodine at either room temperature or at 80 °C under nitrogen resulted in the synthesis of (E)-Schiff bases, 2,3-dihydro-2-arylquinazolin-4(1H)-one and 2-arylquinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives, in excellent yields.     

Efficient method for the synthesis of 2-(3-arylbenzo[f]quinolin-2-yl)ethanol derivatives through an unusual ring-opening of THF-involved reaction

An efficient synthesis of 2-(3-arylbenzo[f]quinolin-2-yl)ethanol derivatives by an unusual THF-involved reaction of aromatic aldehyde and naphthalen-2-amine promoted by iodine has been demonstrated with good yields. The ring-opening of THF reaction is proposed in the possible mechanism.     

Cascade C?N and C?O bond constructions for the synthesis of dibenzoimidazo[1,4]oxazepines catalyzed by CuI/o-phen

A novel method for the synthesis of dibenzo[b,f]imidazo[1,2-d][1,4]oxazepine derivatives was described via cascade Csp² N and Csp² O bond constructions. It was a crossed double Ullmann reactions using 4,5-diaryl-2-(2-hydroxylphenyl)-1H-imidazole as the double nucleophilic centers in the presence of Cs₂CO₃, while 1-bromo-2-iodobenzene was used as a substrate catalyzed by CuI and o-phenanthroline in good yields.     

An efficient synthesis of 6-benzyl-2-arylthieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-ones catalyzed by HCl involving a Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction

Aldehyde could undergo not only the subsequent condensation and cyclization with 2-aminothiophene-3-carboxamide to build a pyrimidine ring, but also a Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction with thiophene moiety to give unexpected 6-benzyl-2-arylthieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)- ones in good yields catalyzed by concentrated HCl.     

Green Method for the Synthesis of Benzo[f]pyrimido[4,5-b]quinoline Derivatives Catalyzed by Iodine in Aqueous Media

A convenient one-pot synthesis of benzo[f]pyrimido[4,5-b]quinoline derivatives is described via three-component reaction of benzaldehydes, naphthalen-2-amine, and barbituric acid at room temperature in aqueous media catalyzed by iodine. Compared with other methods, this three-component reaction used a green solvent, gave good yields, and was operationally simple.
