Ni olivine: thermal behavior of liebenbergite

The synthetic samples of nickel olivine were measured in the temperature range 100–630 K by the X-ray powder diffraction method. Temperature dependencies of molar volumes and coefficients of bulk thermal expansion of liebenbergite were determined. Interpolation and extrapolation of the experimental data were performed by the procedure based on the Debye–Mie–Gruneisen theory of solid body in the range from 50 to 2000 K, and the Gruneisen coefficient and Debye temperature were calculated. Heat capacity and its behavior in accordance with temperature were evaluated.

High-temperature fluorescence of low- and high concentration aqueous ATP solution

Abstract

The results of an experimental study of luminescence of an aqueous solution of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) at room temperature are presented. High-temperature fluorescence of low- and high-concentrated solution was experimentally detected and analyzed. The shape of the fluorescence spectrum, the excited state lifetime and the temperature behavior of the emission intensity indicate the formation in the high-concentrated solution of rather stable dimer-like complexes, which can form excimer states.

Capillary zone electrophoresis as a simple approach for the study of p-arsanilic acid transformation in the process of photolytic degradation

Arsenic aromatic compounds including p-arsanylic acid (pASA) are still widely used in a number of countries as the feed additives in animal breeding resulting in its entering the environment. Under the influence of oxidizing agents or UV radiation, pASA undergoes transformations leading to generation of inorganic arsenic species that are more mobile and toxic than organic ones. On the one hand, an approach based on the treatment of contaminated waters by UV irradiation seems perspective for their detoxification, but the feasibility of this approach depends on the composition of the products forming as a result of photodegradation. In the present work, a CZE was applied for the study of the pASA degradation process during stationary (308 nm) photolysis in the presence of Fe(III)-oxalate complex. A developed assay allowed controlling the parent compounds and also As-containing products of pASA degradation, presented mainly by arsenate and arsenite ions. It was found that the main inorganic derivatives of the pASA photolytic conversions are presented by arsenate and arsenite ions whose ratio depends on the initial amount of pASA and reaction conditions.

Vibrations and Stability of Shallow Ribbed Shells with a Rectangular Planform

A technique is developed to determine the critical stresses and natural frequencies of shallow ribbed shells with a rectangular planform and the corresponding buckling wave and natural modes. The effect of discrete rib arrangement on these characteristics is studied by numerical examples.     

Natural Vibrations of Ribbed Cylindrical Shells with Low Shear Stiffness

A technique is proposed to determine the natural frequencies of rib-reinforced cylindrical shells with low shear stiffness. The equations of motion based on the Timoshenko model are used. The influence of the transverse shear moduli of the shell and ribs on the minimum natural frequencies and corresponding modes is studied by way of numerical examples. Laser ablation of paper: Raman identification of products

Old paper samples are bleached using pulsed laser radiation with a wavelength of 532 nm. The ablation products of five paper samples that differ by composition and production dates are studied using Raman microspectroscopy. Cellulose, protein, calcite, titanium dioxide (anatase, rutile, and brookite), quartz, lazurite, bonattite, and dolomite are identified as ablation products.
