The coupling of atomic and photonic resonances serves as an important tool for enhancing light‐matter interactions and enables the observation of multitude of fascinating and fundamental phenomena. Here, by exploiting the platform of atomic‐cladding wave guides, the resonant coupling of rubidium vapor and an atomic cladding micro ring resonator is experimentally demonstrated. Specifically, cavity‐atom coupling in the form of Fano resonances having a distinct dependency on the relative frequency detuning between the photonic and the atomic resonances is observed. Moreover, significant enhancement of the efficiency of all optical switching in the V‐type pump‐probe scheme is demonstrated. The coupled system of micro‐ring resonator and atomic vapor is a promising building block for a variety of light vapor experiments, as it offers a very small footprint, high degree of integration and extremely strong confinement of light and vapor. As such it may be used for important applications, such as all optical switching, dispersion engineering (e.g. slow and fast light) and metrology, as well as for the observation of important effects such as strong coupling, and Purcell enhancement.

The Reynolds-averaged flow for a solid/free-surface juncture boundary layer and wake is documented. The three mean-velocity
components and five of the Reynolds stresses are measured for a surface-piercing flat plate in a towing tank using a laser-Doppler
velocimeter system for both boundary-layer and wake planes in regions close to the free surface. The experimental method is
described, including the foil-plate model, laser-Doppler velocimeter system, conditions, and uncertainty analysis. The underlying
flow data is in excellent agreement with benchmark data. Inner (near the plate and wake centerplane and below the free surface)
and outer (near the free surface) regions of high streamwise vorticity of opposite sign are observed, which transport, respectively,
high mean velocity and low turbulence from the outer to the inner and low mean velocity and high turbulence from the inner
to the outer portions of the boundary layer and wake. For the wake, the inner region of vorticity is relatively weak. The
physical mechanism for the streamwise vorticity is analyzed with regard to the Reynolds-averaged streamwise vorticity equation.
The anisotropy of the crossplane normal Reynolds stresses closely correlates with the vorticity and, additionally, indicates
similarity, i.e., its nature is such that it only depends on the proximity to the plate and free surface boundaries or wake
centerplane symmetry plane. Free-surface effects on the Reynolds stresses are analyzed with regard to the behavior close to
the free surface of the turbulent kinetic energy and the normal components of the anisotropy tensor and the anisotropy invariants.
Close to the free surface, the turbulent kinetic energy is nearly constant and increases for the inner and outer portions,
respectively, of the boundary layer and wake and the normal components of the anisotropy tensor and the anisotropy invariants
roughly correspond to the limiting values for two-component turbulence. The similarities and differences between the present
results and analysis with those from related studies are discussed. The data and analysis should have practical application
with regard to the development of turbulence models for computational fluid dynamics methods for the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes
equations.

Zusammenfassung Es wurden dynamische and stationdre Scherversuche durchgeführt, um den Verdickungseinfluß von Copolymeren aus Ethylacrylat and 15, 40 bzw. 65 Gew. % Methacrylsdure auf Latex-Dispersionen aus Ethylacrylat mit 0 bzw. 1 Gew. % Acrylsaure zu untersuchen. Nach Überschreiten eines Schwellwertes der Verdickungsmittelkonzentration, welche mit dem Sauregehalt im Verdickungsmittel und im Latex abnahm, wurde ein starker Anstieg des Speicher-und Verlust-Moduls (G and G) sowie der Fließgrenze und der Thixotropie beobachtet. Gleichzeitig wurde ein Überwiegen der viskosen Eigenschaften sowie eine zunehmende Flockulationsfähigkeit des Verdickungsmittels festgestellt. Bei größerem Säuregehalt im Latex überwogen die elastischen Eigenschaften, gleichzeitig erhöhte sich die Bestandigkeit gegen Flockulation. Die Verdickungswirkung der unterschiedlich zusammengesetzen Systeme wird durch die Ausbildung einer Raumnetzstruktur erklärt. Das Flockulationsverhalten wird auf Änderungen der Ladung und des freien Volumens zurückgeführt.
The thickening effect of latices of ethylacrylate-methacrylic acid copolymers (15, 40, and 65 wt. % of the acid) on latices of ethylacrylate-acrylic acid copolymers (0 and 1 wt. % of the acid) was studied by using dynamic and steady shear flow measurement. It was found that beyond a certain concentration of the thickener the storage modulus G, the loss modulus G, the yield stress values, and thixotropic behavior rapidly increased. At the same time, viscous properties and the flocculation ability of the thickeners prevailed. On the contrary, an increase in acid content in the latex made the elastic properties and flocculation resistance of the system more pronounced. The thickening effect is explained by the formation of an ordered structure. The flocculation behavior is explained by changes of the electrical charge and the free volume.

The next generation of linear colliders is very demanding concerning the alignment tolerances of their components. For the CLIC project, the reference axis of the components will have to be pre-aligned within 10 μm at 1 sigma with respect to a straight line in a sliding window of 200 m. A solution based on stretched wires with wire positioning sensors has been proposed in order to fulfill the alignment requirements in the Conceptual Design Report of the project. This solution has some drawbacks and laser based alternative solutions are under study in order to validate the wire solution and possibly replace it. A new proposal is introduced in this paper, using a laser beam over 150 m as a straight alignment reference, with the objective of having an uncertainty in the determination of its straightness within 10 μm. Sensors coupled to the components to be aligned, would provide after calibration the horizontal and vertical offsets with respect to the laser beam, within a few micrometers, in their coordinate system. The method is based on the laser beam space stabilization effect when a beam propagates in atmospheric air inside a pipe with standing acoustic wave. The principal schemes of corresponding optoelectronics devices and temperature stabilization solutions are also proposed, making probable the extension of the laser fiducial line up to a 500 m length. 相似文献
