Sorption of certain isatins on various sorbents under RP-HPLC conditions

The results from chromatographic analysis of biologically active isatin derivatives on hyper-crosslinked polystyrene (HCLPS) and silica gel modified by octadecyl groups (SilC₁₈) are presented. The constants of distribution of sorbates between a mobile phase and the investigated sorbents (K _x ) and the changes in the standard differential molar Gibbs energies of adsorption $(\Delta _a \bar G^\circ )$ are calculated, along with the chromatographic retention-physicochemical property of sorbate dependences. It is found that the equations describing these dependences have high forecasting ability with respect to the values of retention factors of the investigated sorbates.     

A study of the effects of mass transfer under quasi-spherical loading of a composite spherical sample

Metallography and electron probe microanalysis were used to study the structure of a composite ball, 60 mm in diameter, subjected to quasi-spherical shock-wave loading. The sample consisted of spherical steel and brass shells and a brass cylinder at the center. Converging shock waves were generated by a spherical HE charge, which was initiated at several points uniformly distributed over its external surface. The pressures at the surface and center of the sample were ～40 and ～100 GPa, respectively. Brass and steel were observed to penetrate into the narrow channels of the joints between the halves of the shells and into the compact material. The depths of penetration into the joints and compact material were 3.2 and 0.3 mm, respectively. Mass transfer occurred along the radius from the surface to the center of the sample and in the opposite direction. The mass transfer effects revealed are of hydrodynamic nature.     

Investigation of the reaction of 1-adamantyl bromomethyl ketone with azoles

The reactions of 1-adamantyl bromomethyl ketone with 1,2,4-triazole, benzotriazole, benzimidazole, 5-aminotetrazole, and 3(5)-amino-1,2,4-triazole were investigated, and the respective N-alkylation products were obtained. The optimum conditions were determined for alkylation in the presence of sodium hydride in hexamethylphosphorotriamide.Samara State University, Samara, Russia.
