Ein Verfahren zur Synthese enantiomerenreiner Alkanole durch reduktive Entschwefelung von Thiophenalkoholen

Summary Acetals3 and4 of alkylthienylcarbinols1 were prepared using an enantiomerically pure lactol2. In the key step these compounds were desulfurized. After deprotection the target compounds7 andent-7 were obtained.

Über die synthese von in position 5 halogenierten,im aromatischen Kern substituierten Valerophenonen

The preparation of 5-chloro-2-methoxy-valerophenone and 5-iodo-2-methoxy-valerophenone proceeding from the -lactone of the corresponding 2-(o-methoxybenzoyl)-5-hydroxy-valeric acid is described.     

Cyclo­decyl 4‐nitro­phenyl­acetate

Cyclodecyl 4‐nitrophenylacetate, C₁₈H₂₅NO₄, has its ten‐membered ring in the expected diamond‐lattice boat–chair–boat [2323] conformation, with the substituent 4‐nitro­phenyl­acet­oxy group in the BCB IIIe position. The ester unit has the expected Z conformation, with an O=C—O—C torsion angle of −0.3 (3)°, and the connection to the benzene ring is nearly perpendicular to the ester, with an O=C—C—C torsion angle of 85.5 (2)°. An inter­molecular contact exists between the ester C atom and a nitro O atom, having a C⋯O distance of 2.909 (2) Å.     

Latex Fractionation by Sedimentation and Colloidal Crystallization: The Case of Poly(styrene-co-acrylamide)

Poly(styrene-co-acrylamide) (PS-AAM) latex was prepared, fractionated by sedimentation under gravity, and characterized by PCS, infrared spectra, secondary and backscattered electron imaging in the scanning electron microscope, and electron spectroscopy imaging in an analytical transmission electron microscope. Three latex fractions were obtained. The lower fraction was opalescent and its particles were the more uniform, concerning size, chemical composition, and topochemical features. This lower fraction was still further fractionated by zonal centrifugation in a density gradient, yielding two fractions with similar macrocrystal-forming abilities but different sizes and chemical compositions. These results confirm those previously obtained for the PS-HEMA latex. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.     

Pheromone, 3.Mitt.: Eine einfache Methode zur Steuerung der Reduktion von α-Alkoxy-carbonylverbindungen

Summary Enantiomerically pure 1,2-diols bearing optionallysyn oranti configurated secondary hydroxylic groups are synthesized from acetal-protected cyanohydrins. After resolution of the diastereomers the cyanohydrins are converted into -alkoxy-ketones by Grignard-reaction followed by reduction using common chelating or non-chelating agents. Among others syntheses of enantiomerically pure pheromones,endo-Brevicomin,exo-Brevicomin and Dispalure are given as examples.
