Half‐sandwich Ru (II) complexes containing (N,O) Schiff base ligands: Catalysts for base‐free transfer hydrogenation of ketones

Two new half‐sandwich Ru (II)(p‐cymene) complexes ( 1 and 2 ) containing dopamine‐based (N, O) Schiff base ligands ( L ¹ H and L ² H ) were synthesized and characterized by FT‐IR, UV–Visible and ¹H & ¹³C NMR spectral techniques, and elemental analyses. The spectroscopic and analytical data revealed monobasic bidentate coordination of the ligands with Ru ion. The molecular structures of L ¹ H , L ² H and 2 were further confirmed by single crystal X‐ray diffraction study. Complexes 1 and 2  have been employed as catalysts in the transfer hydrogenation of ketones using 2‐propanol as a hydrogen source at 85 °C under base‐free condition. Good to the excellent yield of secondary alcohols, gram scale synthesis, and high TON and TOF made this catalytic system interesting.     

Single and double electron capture associated with target K-shell ionization for F7 + ,8 + ,9++Ar

Ratios for target Ar K-shell ionization associated with single and double electron capture, as well as the ratios corresponding to total capture and the projectile K x rays, were determined for 1.8- to 2.2-MeV/u F^{7 + ,8 + ,9+} projectiles. This work was performed at Western Michigan University with the tandem Van de Graaff accelerator. Coincidences between emitted K-shell X-rays (both target and projectile) and the corresponding charge-changed particles were observed. The F⁹⁺ Ar K X-ray coincidence ratios for double to single capture are found to well exceed unity over the limited energy range of the measurements. Possible explanations for this anomalous behavior are discussed.     

Synthesis and Reactivity of Hydrolysis Products of Cyclic Phosphites with Amino Substituents

Abstract

Hydrolysis of several cyclic aminophosphites are discussed and compared with that of cyclic chloro/ phenoxy phosphites. An X-ray structure of a hydrolysis product, (C₆H₁₁NH₃)⁺O^?P(O)(H)(2,2′-OC₆H₄-C₆H₄OH) has been determined.     

Compton Spectrum Due to L-Shell Electrons

Compton spectrum due to L-shell electrons of thorium has been measured by the coincidence technique, using 279 keV incident gamma photons. The influence of L-shell electron momenta on the distribution of the scattered photons has been studied with reference to the Compton profile due to free electrons and compared with the exact and impulse hydrogenic theoretical models. Significant deviations are found between experimental and theoretical Compton spectra.     

Zn(OTf)2 catalyzed addition-cyclization reaction of allenylphosphine oxides with propargyl alcohol-unexpected formation of 2,5-dimethylenetetrahydrofurans and 2-substituted furans

A novel synthesis of 2,5-dimethylenetetrahydrofurans, 2-substituted furans and a β,ω-diketophosphonate in good to excellent yields has been achieved by the reaction of allenylphosphine oxides/allenylphosphonate with propargyl alcohol using zinc triflate/triethylamine combination.
