The evaluation of persistent phosphors is often focused on the processes right after the excitation, namely on the shape of the afterglow decay curve and the duration of the afterglow, in combination with thermoluminescence glow curve analysis. In this paper we study in detail the trap filling process in europium-doped alkaline earth silicon nitrides (Ca2Si5N8:Eu, Sr2Si5N8:Eu and Ba2Si5N8:Eu), i.e., how the persistent luminescence can be induced. Both the temperature at which the phosphors are excited and the spectral distribution of the excitation light on the ability to store energy in the phosphors' lattices are investigated. We show that for these phosphors this storage process is thermally activated upon excitation in the lower 5d excited states of Eu2+, with the lowest thermal barrier for europium doped Ca2Si5N8. Also, the influence of co-doping with thulium on the trap filling and afterglow behavior is studied. Finally there exists a clear relation between the luminescence quenching temperature and the trap filling efficiency. The latter relation can be utilized to select new efficient 5d–4f based afterglow phosphors.  相似文献

After the publication of the work entitled "Dermatan sulfate in tunicate phylogeny: Order-specific sulfation pattern and the effect of [→4IdoA(2-Sulfate)β-1→3GalNAc(4-Sulfate)β-1→] motifs in dermatan sulfate on heparin cofactor II activity", by Kozlowski et al., BMC Biochemistry 2011, 12:29, we found that the legends to Figures 2 to 5 contain serious mistakes that compromise the comprehension of the work. Europium (Eu+) ions were confined in a Paul trap and detected by non-destructive method. Storage time of Eu+ ions achieved in vacuum was improved by orders of magnitude employing buffer gas cooling. The experimentally detected signal was fitted to the ion response signal and the total number of ions trapped was estimated. It is found that the peak signal amplitude as well as the product of FWHM and the peak signal amplitude is proportional to the total number of trapped ions. The trapped ion secular frequency was swept at different rates and its effect on the absorption line profile was studied both experimentally and theoretically.  相似文献

The adducts of phenylglycidyl ether with 2′-deoxyadenosine (dAdo) and 2′-deoxycytidine (dCyd) exhibit structural modifications. The N-1 adduct of dAdo underwent rearrangement to the N-6 adduct; the N-3 adduct of dCyd was deaminated to the corresponding 2′-deoxyuridine adduct. These structural modifications were studied by using liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry, and kinetic data for both reactions are presented. The low energy (+) collision-activated dissociation spectra of the dAdo adducts allow the two positional isomers N-1 versus N-6 to be distinguished. The structure of the latter is independently proven by an extended NMR study. For the dCyd and 2′-deoxyuridine adducts, information about the alkylation site is found in the (?) collision-activated dissociation spectra. These spectra show the presence of an unexpected N-4-alkylated dCyd in addition to the two epimeric N-3 adducts.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and sensitive high-performance thin-layer chromatographic assay for the determination of epoxide hydrolase activity in rat liver homogenates is described. It is extended to the determination of a series of phenoxypropane-1,2-diols. The hydrolase assay has the advantages of using a readily available substrate, 2,3-epoxypropyl 4-methoxyphenyl ether, of multiple sample application, and of the simultaneous determination of reaction product (diol) as well as unchanged substrate (epoxide). The use of an internal standard, 4-nitroanisole, results in high sensitivity and good reproducibility of the proposed method. The limit of diol detection is 20 pmol.  相似文献

A sensitive, high performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometric (i.e. mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry; LC/MS/MS) method with on-line extraction and sample clean-up for the screening and confirmation of residues of sulfonamides in kidney is described. The sulfonamides are extracted from homogenized kidney with methanol. After centrifugation of the extract, an aliquot of the extract is directly injected on the LC/MS/MS system with further extraction and clean-up of the sample on-line. Detection of the analytes was achieved by positive electrospray ionization (ESI) followed by multiple reaction monitoring. For each sulfonamide the collisional decomposition of the protonated molecule to a common, abundant fragment ion was monitored. The method has been validated for sulfadimethoxine, sulfaquinoxaline, sulfamethazine, sulfamerazine, sulfathiazole, sulfamethoxazole, sulfadiazine and sulfapyridine. Calibration curves resulting from spiked blank kidney samples at the 10-200 microg/kg level showed good linear correlation. At the level of 50, 100 and 200 microg/kg both within- and between-day precision, as measured by relative standard deviation (RSD), were less than 16%. The limits of detection (LODs) ranged from 5 to 13.5 microg/kg. The recoveries ranged from 78 to 82%. The procedure provides a rapid, reliable and sensitive method for the determination of residues of sulfonamides in bovine kidney. The advantage of this method over existing methods is its decreased sample preparation and analysis time, which makes the method more suitable for routine analysis.  相似文献
