Synthesis of Pyrazolines Based on Levoglucosenone

The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of diazomethane to levoglucosenone was found to occur regio- and stereoselectively to form optically active 9,11-dioxa-4,5-diazatricyclo[6.2.1.0^2,6]undec-4-en-7-one. Levoglucosenone was found to react with methyldiazoacetate to give the 2:1 adduct.     

Reactions of trialkylalanes with cyclic acetals and orthoformates in CH2Cl2 and ClCH2CH2Cl as solvents

Under mild conditions, trialkylalanes (Et₃Al and Buⁱ ₃Al) in chlorine-containing solvents (CH₂Cl₂ or ClCH₂CH₂Cl) react with cyclic acetals and orthoformates to form glycol monoethers and dialkylacetals, respectively, in high yields. The ¹H NMR spectroscopic data demonstrate that CH₂Cl₂ or ClCH₂CH₂Cl interacts with Buⁱ ₃Al.     

Linear codimerization of 2-cyclopropyl-1,3-butadiene with methyl acrylate catalyzed by iron and cobalt complexes

Conclusions The linear codimerization of 2-cyclopropyl-1,3-butadiene with methyl acrylate gave a mixture of methyl esters of 5-cyclopropyl-2Z,5Z- and 2E,5Z-heptadienoic acids.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 10, pp. 2364–2366, October, 1984.     

Synthesis and biological activity of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-(2-hydroxyethyl)cytisine derivatives

Derivatives of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)cytisine, N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-, N-(2-hydroxy-2-(1-adamantyl)ethyl)-, and N-(2-hydroxy-2-phenylethyl)cytisine, were synthesized by reduction of N-(2-oxopropyl)-, N-(2-oxo-2-(1-adamantyl)ethyl)-and N-(2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)cytisine with metal hydrides. Synthesis and structure of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-(2-(1-adamantyl)-2-hydroxyethyl)cytisine diastereomers

Diastereomers of N-(2-(1-adamantyl)-2-hydroxyethyl)cytisine were synthesized by reduction of N-(2-(1-adamantyl)-2-oxoethyl)cytisine with NaBH₄. Cyclic homo- and cooligomerization of 2-cyclopropylbutadiene with 1,3-dienes

Conclusions We were the first to study the cyclic homo- and cooligomerization of 2-cyclopropyl-1,3-butadiene with butadiene and isoprene in the presence of catalysts based on nickel. The conditions were found for obtaining 1,5-dicyclopropyl-1,5-cyclooctadiene, 1-cyclopropyl-1,5-cyclooctadiene, 1-cyclopropyl-5-methyl-1,5-cyclooctadiene, and 1-cyclopropyl-5,9 (8)-dimethyl-1,5,9-cyclododecatriene.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp. 2634–2636, November, 1979.     

13C NMR Spectra of polycyclic compounds: spiro(bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-7,1′-cyclopropane) derivatives

The¹³C NMR spectra of 15 spirocyclopropane derivatives in the (C⁷)-norbornane series have been investigated, signal assignments made, and the stereochemistry of isomeric products has been determined. Reaction of γ-nitroketones and methyl 4-nitrobutanoates with formaldehyde and primary amines

5-Nitropentan-2-one reacts with methylamine and formaldehyde according to the Mannich reaction pattern to give 5-hexahydropyrimidinylcarbonyl-substituted 1-nitro-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane in one experimental stage. When methyl 3-R-4-nitrobutanoates are used, the reaction stops after the formation of substituted 5-nitrohexahydropyrimidines in 40–98% yields. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Molecular structure of 3,7-dimethyl-9-thia-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-9,9-dioxide

By a single crystal X-ray diffraction study the molecular structure of 3,7-dimethyl-9-thia-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-9,9-dioxide having a chair-chair conformation with a diequatorial arrangement of methyl groups at nitrogen atoms is determined. Compound 1 C₈H₁₆N₂O₂S crystallizes in the space group Pnma with the following cell parameters: a = 11.0262(3) Å, b = 14.4490(3) Å, c = 6.1780(3) Å.
