A milling-process model with a variable time delay associated with each cutting tooth is presented in this article. The source of this variable time delay is the feed rate. The effect of the feed motion on the entry cutting angle, the exit cutting angle, and the amplitude of feed mark is also discussed. Loss-of-contact effects are also considered. The system dynamics is described by a set of delay differential equations with periodic coefficients and variable time delays. A semi-discretization scheme is presented for analyzing the stability of periodic orbits of this system. The analysis provides evidence of period-doubling bifurcations and secondary Hopf bifurcations. Good agreement is found between the numerical results obtained from this work and the results of related experimental studies.  相似文献

An analytical and experimental investigation into the response of a nonlinear continuous system with widely separated natural frequencies is presented. The system investigated is a thin, slightly curved, isotropic, flexible cantilever beam mounted vertically. In the experiments, for certain vertical harmonic base excitations, we observed that the response consisted of the first, third, and fourth modes. In these cases, the modulation frequency of the amplitudes and phases of the third and fourth modes was equal to the response frequency of the first mode. Subsequently, we developed an analytical model to explain the interactions between the widely separated modes observed in the experiments. We used a three-mode Galerkin projection of the partial-differential equation governing a thin, isotropic, inextensional beam and obtained a sixth-order nonautonomous system of equations by using an unconventional coordinate transformation. In the analytical model, we used experimentally determined damping coefficients. From this nonautonomous system, we obtained a first approximation of the response by using the method of averaging. The analytically predicted responses and bifurcation diagrams show good qualitative agreement with the experimental observations. The current study brings to light a new type of nonlinear motion not reported before in the literature and should be of relevance to many structural and mechanical systems. In this motion, a static response of a low-frequency mode interacts with the dynamic response of two high-frequency modes. This motion loses stability, resulting in oscillations of the low-frequency mode accompanied by a modulation of the amplitudes and phases of the high-frequency modes.  相似文献

Studies of fluid-structure interactions associated with flexible structures such as flapping wings require the capture and quantification of large motions of bodies that may be opaque. As a case study, motion capture of a free flying Manduca sexta, also known as hawkmoth, is con-sidered by using three synchronized high-speed cameras. A solid finite element (FE) representation is used as a reference body and successive snapshots in time of the displacement fields are reconstructed via an optimization procedure. One of the original aspects of this work is the formulation of an objective function and the use of shadow matching and strain-energy regularization. With this objective function, the authors penalize the projection differences between silhou-ettes of the captured images and the FE representation of the deformed body. The process and procedures undertaken to go from high-speed videography to motion estimation are dis-cussed, and snapshots of representative results are presented. Finally, the captured free-flight motion is also characterized and quantified.  相似文献

In this paper, we study an inverse problem of reconstructing two time independent coefficients in the reaction diffusion system from the final measurement. First the given problem is transformed into an optimization problem by using optimal control framework and the existence of the minimizer for the control functional is established. Then we prove the stability estimate for two coefficients with the upper bound given by some Sobolev norms of the final measurement.  相似文献

The dynamics of a reaction‐diffusion predator‐prey model with hyperbolic mortality and Holling type II response effect is considered. The stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are investigated by analyzing the distribution of eigenvalues without diffusion. We also study the spatially homogeneous and nonhomogeneous periodic solutions through all parameters of the system which are spatially homogeneous. In this paper we study the mean-square (MS) stability of the Milstein method for linear stochastic delay integro-differential equations (SDIDE) with Markovian switching by extending the techniques of [Z. Wang, C. Zhang, An analysis of stability of Milstein method for stochastic differential equations with delay, Computers and Mathematics with Applications 51 (2006) 1445–1452; L. Ronghua, H. Yingmin, Convergence and stability of numerical solutions to SDDEs with Markovian switching, Applied Mathematics and Computation 175 (2006) 1080–1091]. It is established that the Milstein method is MS-stable for linear stochastic delay differential equations (Wang and Zhang (2006); in the above reference). Here we prove that it is MS-stable for linear SDIDE with Markovian switching also under suitable conditions on the integral term. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献
