We demonstrate a simple passive technique, using phase shifted fibre Bragg gratings, for extraction of optical clock signals from RZ optical data signals . The generation of an optical clock signal at 12.5 GHz from a 12.5 Gbs RZ optical data stream is experimentally demonstrated with simulation of optical clock extraction at 10 GHz fro m 40 Gbs OTDM data streams .  相似文献

A scheme for upstream transmission and local area network emulation in passive optical networks using a single reflective semiconductor optical amplifier placed at the customer premises is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. A solution for implementing multiple secure virtual private networks over a passive optical network using electronic code division multiple access is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The multiple virtual private networking capability is experimentally demonstrated with 40 Mb/s data multiplexed with a 640 Mb/s electronic code that is unique to each of the virtual private networks in the passive optical network, and the transmission of the electronically coded data is carried out using Fabry-Perot laser diodes. A theoretical scalability analysis for electronic code division multiple access based virtual private networks over a passive optical network is also carried out to identify the performance limits of the scheme. Several sources of noise such as optical beat interference and multiple access interference that are present in the receiver are considered with different operating system parameters such as transmitted optical power, spectral width of the broadband optical source, and processing gain to study the scalability of the network.  相似文献

We present an all-optical WDM-to-TDM conversion scheme with simultaneous all-optical synchronization that can be utilized in switching nodes of very high-speed WDM/OTDM hybrid communication systems. The scheme, which utilizes a nonlinear optical loop mirror in conjunction with a synchronously modelocked semiconductor laser, is experimentally demonstrated by WDM-to-TDM conversion of two optical channels in a switching node. The optical time division multiplexed output has a potential total throughput of ≈40 Gb/s. This all-optical scheme removes limitations of restricted bandwidth of electronics at switching nodes and also has advantages over existing optical time division multiplexing schemes.  相似文献

We present a novel configuration for carrier suppressed return-to-zero (CSRZ) signal generation, which only requires a single stage Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator in conjunction with an electrical mixer. Electrical band-limiting is also introduced to increase dispersion tolerance without causing additional penalty due to nonlinear effects in long haul dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) CSRZ systems using conventional launch power levels.  相似文献

In this Letter, we propose and demonstrate the concept of a free space optics-based parallel high-speed reconfigurable card-to-card interconnect architecture employing microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based steering mirror arrays in conjunction with VCSEL and photodiode arrays. A bit-error rate of ~10(-6) and a receiver sensitivity below -11.5 dBm are experimentally attained with a proof-of-concept 3×3 10 Gb/s reconfigurable card-to-card optical interconnect demonstrator.  相似文献

In this paper we experimentally demonstrate an ultra-broadband indoor full-duplex WDM optical wireless communication system with multimode fiber. The multimode fiber is used because it is employed in most of the already installed in-building fiber distribution networks. Simultaneous error-free (BER<10(-9)) transmission of 4×12.5 Gbps downlink and 800 Mbps uplink has been successfully demonstrated. The experimental results show that, although the use of multimode fiber will induce ~2.4 cm reduction in the maximum error-free beam footprint in the downlink, the bit rate of the uplink can be much higher compared to the system with single-mode fiber.  相似文献
