PAN-based fibers, heat-treated to ≈1300°C having elastic moduli ≈35 Msi (240 GPa), exhibit an unusual maximum in the resistivity at low temperature (≈30 K), and the temperature coefficient of resistance remains positive to 1.5 K. Measurement of resistivity are reported, and the results discussed in terms of models for the electronic states of this disordered material. It is speculated that the behavior is related to anomalies observed in the specific heat of bulk carbons heat treated to similar temperatures.  相似文献

Demonstration of a high-speed nonscanning imaging spectrometer   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We report results from a field demonstration of a nonscanning high-speed imaging spectrometer [computed-tomography imaging spectrometer (CTIS)] capable of simultaneously recording spatial and spectral information about a rapidly changing scene. High-speed spectral imaging was demonstrated by collection of spectral and spatial snapshots of a missile in flight. This instrument is based on computed-tomography concepts and operates in the visible spectrum (430-710nm). Raw image data were recorded at video frame rate (30frames / s) and an integration time of 2ms. An iterative reconstruction of the spatial and spectral scene information from each raw image took 10s. We present representative missile spectral signatures from the missile firing. The accuracy of the high-speed spectrometer is demonstrated by comparison of extended-source static-scene spectra acquired by a nonimaging reference spectrometer with spectra acquired by use of CTIS imaging of the same static scenes.  相似文献

The dynamics of vitreous and molten zinc chloride have been studied with inelastic neutron scattering at the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source. The results are analyzed in terms of the scattering function, S(Q,E) and the effective vibrational density of states, G(E). The vibrational spectra of both glass and liquid are dominated by broad features centered at 15 and 35 meV which are identified with F2 modes ZnCl42− tetrahedra. The other two normal modes are note observed because of inadequate resolution and broadening and overlap resulting from coupling between tetrahedra. The behavior of ZnCl2 is contrasted with other tetrahedrally coordinated glasses that have been studied with the same technique.  相似文献

This report describes a high-performance liquid chromatographic method with electrochemical detection for the simultaneous quantitation of urinary metanephrine, normetanephrine and 3-methoxytyramine. This method, which involves manual dual-column purification steps for the routine determination of urinary metanephrines, is compared with the previously used spectrophotometric Pisano method and an on-line sample preparation procedure, where the automated sequential trace enrichment (ASTED) apparatus is used for the column-switching procedure. In order to automate the metanephrine assay, the enrichment technique was evaluated against the reference chromatographic method. Bio-Rad urine controls gave coefficients of variation of less than 9% at all levels for the reference method. Values of less than 19% were found in the reference range with the enrichment method, and the recovery of 3-methoxytyramine was also too poor to be measured in normal concentrations. The linearity of both methods is sufficient to determine pathological levels of these biogenic amines. Future developments should be focused on decreasing the variation of between-day assays in an on-line, automated procedure.  相似文献

A rapid high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method for the simultaneous determination of cortisol and cortisone in a single extract of 1 ml of serum is described. The method employs meprednisone as the internal standard. The steroids were analysed isocratically by reversed-phase HPLC with an octadecylsilane-bonded (ODS) column using ultraviolet detection. The matrix effect was reduced by lowering the sample pH by adding glacial acetic acid to the sera. The samples were then filtered through regenerated cellulose membranes at 4 degrees C and extracted with diethyl ether. The dried eluates were redissolved in the mobile phase and injected into the column. The detection limit of the assay for both steroids was 500 ng/l. Cortisol was determined in twenty serum samples by both HPLC and radioimmunoassay (RIA). The results were similar. Interference by other steroids and certain steroid analogue drugs was also studied. The HPLC method yielded no cross-reactivity between the different steroids as may occur with the RIA technique. The HPLC method was technically easy to perform and it allowed us to quantify both cortisol and cortisone in a single serum extract with high specificity.  相似文献
