Effect of the length of a rotating drillstring on the stability of its quasistatic equilibrium

A mathematical model is proposed to describe the critical quasistatic equilibrium of long rotating drillstrings. The prestress of drillstrings by the gravity and torsion forces, the gyroscopic interaction of rotary and linear motions, and the destabilizing effect of the internal flow of the drilling fluid are taken into account. Stability of multiply connected ribbed shells and plates in a magnetic field

We explain a method of studying electromagnetic loads, the stress-strain state, and the stability of multiply connected ribbed plates and shells made up of conducting materials and subject to the action of a variable magnetic field. We give the solutions of test problems. Stability of multilayered shells under interlaminar uniformly distributed pressure

The article deals with the problem of the stability of the inner layer of a cylindrical multilayered pipe when uniformly distributed gas pressure acts in the interlaminar gap. The suggested approach takes contact between layers of the shell into account. The article investigates the effect of the divergence angle of the zone of delamination on the form of loss of stability and rigidity of the outer layers of the shell, and on the magnitude of the critical load.Kiev. Influence of Cobalt on the Adhesion Strength of Polycrystalline Diamond Coatings on WC–Co Hard Alloys

The influence of cobalt on the phase composition and adhesion strength of polycrystalline diamond coatings has been studied using scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray microanalysis. The coatings have been deposited on WC–Co hard alloy substrates in glow discharge plasma. It has been found that the catalytic amorphization of carbon only takes place during the direct synthesis of the diamond coating, when the cobalt vapor pressure over the substrate is high and the cobalt-related degradation of the synthesized diamond is absent.
