Hydroxyl-containing mesogens. Synthesis and liquid-crystalline properties of 2-o-hydroxyarylpyrimidines

We have synthesized 5-alkyl(alkoxy)-2-(o-lzydroxy-p-alkoxyphenyl)pyrimidines and considered the effect of the OH group on the inesomorphism. Investigations of spectral and luminescent properties of neutral and ionic phenol and <Emphasis Type="Italic">PARA</Emphasis>-chlorophenol forms in aqueous micellar solutions

Special features of the absorption and fluorescence spectra of phenols (phenol and para-chlorophenol) in alkalized and acidified aqueous-micellar solutions are studied. It is established that the absorption band of the anionic phenol form is formed in aqueous-alkali media in the presence of ionogenic surfactants. Acid dimerization of N-vinyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindole

Synthesis of 2-(2-selenienyl)pyrrole from methyl-2-selenienylketoxime and acetylene

Addition of thiophenols to N-vinylpyrroles

Thiophenols add to 1-vinyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindole and 1-vinyl-2-phenylpyrrole in the presence of azobisisobutyronitrile to form 1-(2-arylthioethyl)pyrroles. The major products in the absence of initiator are the isomeric 1-(1-arylthioethyl)pyrrole -adducts. Pyrroles from ketoximes and acetylene. 23. 2-(1-naphthyl)- and 2-(2-naphthyl)pyrroles and their 1-vinyl derivatives

Selective hydrogenation of the vinyl group of 1-vinylpyrroles

The hydrogenation of 1-vinylpyrroles over Raney nickel in ethanol at 50–90°C proceeds exclusively at the 1-vinyl group and leads to the formation of 1-ethylpyrroles in 80–90% yields.
