Reaction of Methylcyclohexanones with Substituted Benzaldehydes and 2-Naphthylamine

Cascade heterocyclization of 3(4)-methylcyclohexanone, substituted benzaldehyde, and 2-naphthyl-amine in a polar solvent in the presence of hydrochloric acid afforded the corresponding 5-aryl-2(3)-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrobenzo[a]phenanthridines and 12-aryl-9(10)-methyl-8,9,10,11-tetrahydrobenz[a]acridines     

Polyalkoxybenzenes from plant sources 2. Synthesis of isoxazoline analogs of combretastatin from natural allyl(methylenedioxy)methoxybenzenes

A series of analogs of the natural mitostatic agent combretastatin were synthesized by the reaction of nitrile oxides with natural allylbenzenes, such as myristicin, apiol, and dillapiol. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions in allylic systems proceed regiospecifically. The reactions with trans isomers of propenylbenzenes, viz., isomyristicin, isoapiol, and isodillapiol, as dipolarophiles produce regioisomers. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis and reactivity of thieno[2,3-<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]pyridine-2,3-diamines

It has been established that the interaction of N¹-(2-hydroxyphenylmethylthieno[2,3-b]pyrid-3-yl)arylamides with hydrazine hydrate leads to thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2,3-diamines. It was shown that the reaction of the latter with acetylacetone and acetoacetic ester occurs regioselectively at the amino group in position 3 of the thiophene ring. __________ Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 9, pp. 1400–1408, September, 2007.     

Synthesis and structures of 4,6-disubstituted 2-(5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-1,3,5-triazines

New 1,2,4-oxadiazolyl-1,3,5-triazines were synthesized from amidoximes derived from sym-triazine mononitriles. The structure of one of the resulting compounds was studied in detail by X-ray diffraction. __________ Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of 4(6)-aryloxy- and 4-arylthio-2,1,3-benzoxadiazoles

Reactions of 4,6-dibromo-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole with phenols or arenelthiols lead to 4-aryloxy-6-bromo-2,1,3-benzoxadiazoles or 4-arylthio-6-bromo-2,1,3-benzoxadiazoles, respectively. Isomeric 6-aryloxy-4-bromo-2,1,3-benzoxadiazoles were synthesized by replacement of the fluorine atom in 2,6-dibromo-4-fluoro-1-nitrosobenzene with phenols and treatment of the resulting 4-aryloxy-2,6-dibromo-1-nitrosobenzene with sodium azide.
