We investigate the dynamics of a spinor Bose-Einstein condensate which is governed by an optically induced non-Abelian gauge potential. Using a ring shaped trap to confine the atoms and a hydrodynamic ansatz, nonlinear Josephson type equations are found to describe the system. The degenerate eigenstates which show rotation are solved exactly. We consider a homogenous filled ring and observe population dynamics between the two quasi-spin components but also space dependent Josephson oscillations. Stable mass currents can be observed which are induced by the constant non-Abelian effective magnetic field in the limit of weak interactions. For strong interactions the appearance of two-component dark soliton-like objects are observed.  相似文献

We investigate the influence of slow light with an orbital angular momentum on the mechanical motion of ultra-cold atomic gases including both the atomic Bose–Einstein condensates and degenerate Fermi gases. We present a microscopic analysis of the interplay between light and matter and show how slow light can provide an effective magnetic field acting on the electrically neutral atoms.  相似文献

We show that multiple layered Dirac cones can emerge in the band structure of properly addressed multicomponent cold fermionic gases in optical lattices. The layered Dirac cones contain multiple copies of massless spin-1/2 Dirac fermions at the same location in momentum space, whose different Fermi velocity can be tuned at will. On-site microwave Raman transitions can further be used to mix the different Dirac species, resulting in either splitting of or preserving the Dirac point (depending on the symmetry of the on-site term). The tunability of the multiple layered Dirac cones allows us to simulate a number of fundamental phenomena in modern physics, such as neutrino oscillations and exotic particle dispersions with E~p(N) for arbitrary integer N.  相似文献

Recursive deconvolution of a 729-membered peptide library has identified three active sequences, in which both Ser and His are present in one of the two tripeptidic chains generated on a steroidal scaffold (see structural formula), for the cleavage of an activated p-nitrophenyl ester. We consider the influence of the control and probe beams in the electromagnetically induced transparency configuration on the mechanical motion of ultracold atomic gases (atomic Bose-Einstein condensates or degenerate Fermi gases). We carry out a microscopic analysis of the interplay between radiation and matter and show that the two beams of light can provide an effective magnetic field acting on electrically neutral atoms in the case where the probe beam has an orbital angular momentum. As an example, we demonstrate how a Meissner-like effect can be created in an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate.  相似文献

X-ray diffraction, resistivity, AC and DC magnetization data on high-quality single crystals of YBa2Cu3O7−δ are presented. We demonstrate that for δ<0.08, the (0 0 l) diffraction lines are split into two, indicating that at these high oxygen concentrations the crystals are no longer single phase but actually consist of two (or more) different phases with slightly different c-axis parameters. In the two-phase region, the electrical resistivity and the AC and DC magnetic susceptibilities show a broadening of the superconducting transition. This broadening is thought to be due to the proximity effect or strains in two finely dispersed phases with slightly different transition temperatures.  相似文献

The dynamics of ultracold neutral atoms subject to a non-Abelian gauge field is investigated. In particular we analyze in detail a simple experimental scheme to achieve a constant, but non-Abelian gauge field, and discuss in the frame of this gauge field the non-Abelian Aharanov–Bohm effect. In the last part of this paper, we discuss intrinsic non-Abelian effects in the dynamics of cold atomic wavepackets. PACS 03.75.Hh  相似文献
